GERMAN HERITAGE TOUR: Descendants of the original settlers of Roberts Cove boarded a bus to Houston, Texas, Monday on their journey to visit German villages from where their grandparents and great-grandparents began their travels to the United States.

Roberts Cove heritage tour departed Monday

Under the direction of Dr. Philip Fabacher, descendants of the original settlers of Roberts Cove gathered at the German Heritage Museum in Roberts Cove on Monday, June 8, to board the bus taking them to the Intercontinental Airport in Houston. Their destination: to visit the areas where their grandparents and great-grandparents lived before coming to Roberts Cove in the 1880’s.
The group boarded their airplane at 8:30 p.m. Monday, changed planes in London, England for landed in Amsterdam, Netherlands, where they boarded a bus to visit 17 villages in Germany. The group will visit such areas in Germany as Hebelermeer, Aachen via Kevaeler, Schierwaldenrath, and a cruise on the Rhine River. The group will then travel to Southwest Germany to Alsace with a day trip to the Black Forest From Strasbourg, France, the group will ride on a high speed train across France to Bayeux for a guided tour of the Normandy Beaches. The trip ends with a morning tour of Brussels Belgium and a farewell dinner.
Members of Heritage Tour 2015 include Lawrence and Mary Cramer, Daniel and Sharon Bollich Pickett, Katherine Schatzle, Sylvia Fruge, Faye Blankenship, Leona Wright, Michael Schatzle, Wayne Dommert, Charlotte LeBlanc, Mary Landry, Keith and Melanie Hensgens, Michael and Stephanie Remson, Mark Hensgens, Tim Armstrong, Ray and Patricia Schneider, Louise Heinen, Mary Ann Leonards, Giesle Schneider and Philip Fabacher.
