Mary Lou Fontenot Romero

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Mary Lou Fontenot Romero, 83, will be celebrated on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Edmund Catholic Church in Branch, La.  Fr. Paul Broussard, Pastor of St. Edmund Catholic Church will serve as Celebrant.  Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

The family has requested the visitation to be held on Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 P.M.  in Duhon Funeral Home Chapel,  in Rayne, then Friday, January 31, 2014 at 8:00 a.m. until time of services.  A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M. Thursday evening in the funeral home chapel.

Mrs. Mary Lou passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at 9:28 a.m. at Acadia St. Landry Hospital in Church Point.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Branch.

Survivors include one daughter, Melody and husband, Mike Shoffiett of Roberts Cove; three sons, Ronald and wife, Josie Romero of Toledo Bend, June Romero of Branch and Jamie Romero of Branch; two sisters, Bea Trumps of Egan and Yvonne Lindsey of Winnie, TX.; seven grandchildren, Jenee’, Michael, Mitch, Sunny, Miranda, T-Cot and Megan and ten great-grandchildren.

Preceding Mrs. Romero in death is her husband, Chester Romero, Sr.; one daughter, Mona Babineaux; three brothers, Roger Fontenot, Oran Fontenot and Syrus Fontenot.
