Despite recording 11 hits during a district contest Tuesday against Crowley High, the Lady Wolves could not muster a win, falling 14-7.
The loss brought Rayne to 4-3 in district play midway through their slate.
Madison Venable had a big day for Rayne as she was 3-for-3 on the day, followed by Brooke Moore who connected twice for a triple and three RBI’s.
Rounding out Rayne’s top hitters on the day were Madalyn Dupont (3-4, RBI), Jessie Cary (1-3, RBI) and Brittany Broussard (1-3, RBI).

Madison Venable couldn’t get it done in the circle for Lady Wolves, taking a loss. She allowed 14 runs in seven innings, walked one and struck out four.
In earlier district action against Leesville, Brooke Moore did all she could to give Lady Wolves a boost, but it wasn’t enough to get past Leesville, as Lady Wolves lost 8-5 in seven innings at Leesville on Wednesday.
Moore had a hot bat for the Lady Wolves going 3-for-4 on the day driving in one and scoring one run. She doubled in the fifth inning and singled in the fourth and seventh innings.
Other hot bats for Rayne were Savanna LaCombe (1-3, RBI, run), Madalyn Dupont (1-4, run), and Brittany Broussard (1-4, HR, 2 RBI’s).
Madelyn Phillips recorded the win for Leesville, and Rayne’s Madison Venable was the game’s losing pitcher. She allowed eight runs in six innings, walked none and struck out three.
The Lady Wolves are scheduled to meet DeRidder and Leesville this week to continue district play, and begin their April schedule on Saturday at Cecilia.
