Queb's Picks: District titles on the line

District titles will be on the line this evening for a number of area teams.
In the case of the Notre Dame Pioneers and the Church Point Bears, their fate is in their own hands.
The Pios (9-0, 4-0) have clinched at least a share of the District 6-3A title and they can win it outright tonight with a victory at Kaplan.
For the Bears (7-2, 4-0), they need a victory over Livonia tonight to win the 5-3A title. A win would give Church Point their first out-right district title since 1995 when they claimed the title under then head coach Mark Millet.
Crowley High and Rayne High also have shots at shares of a league title, but their hopes are hinging on getting help from another district team – Washington-Marion.
Crowley (6-3, 4-2) has wrapped up play in District 4-4A while Rayne (7-2, 4-2) closes out league play tonight at Opelousas.
Should Rayne win and Washington-Marion defeat LaGrange, the Gators, Indians, Wolves, Gents and Eunice Bobcats, would all share the league title with two losses each.
Should LaGrange win, the Gators would win the title outright with a 5-1 league record.
Will there be four district title banners to hang in Acadia Parish?
That will be answered tonight, but with a little help, I think it just might happen.
Now, before we get deeper into the picks, let’s recap last week’s contest:
My buddy Ben Lormand finally stepped out of his father’s shadow and claimed the overall top prize with just two losses. Coby Wallace edged out three other prognosticators for runnersup honors with three losses. I finished at minus four.
Now on with this week’s picks:
In the prep scene, I’m taking all of the local teams.
Notre Dame, Crowley and Rayne should each win pretty convincingly while I see Church Point pulling out a close one on the road. I’m even taking Iota to close out the season on a high note with a victory over St. Louis.
In other action I’m taking St. Thomas More over Breaux Bridge, Jennings over Westlake, LaGrange over Washington-Marion, West St. Mary over Abbeville, Opelousas Catholic over Westminster, Parkview over University and Menard over Oakdale.
In the college ranks I’m taking Alabama over LSU, Baylor over Oklahoma, Oregon over Stanford, Louisiana Lafayette over Troy (last night), Arizona over UCLA, Indiana over Illinois, Michigan over Nebraska and Ole Miss over Arkansas.
