Mr. and Mrs. Brian Blackmon of Lafayette are announcing the birth of their first child, a daughter, Ellie Rose, born Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at 3:46 p.m. at Women and Children’s Hospital in Lafayette.

At birth, She weighed 6 pounds 10 ounces, and measured 19.5 inches in length.

Mrs. Blackmon is the former Mandy Quebodeaux, daughter of Helen and James Quebodeaux of Rayne, maternal grandparents.

Paternal grandparents are Rhonda and James Blackmon of DeRidder.

Godparents are Melissa Fontenot, a friend, and Jim Ed Blackmon, Brian’s brother.
