Rayne Central Receives Education Grant
Central Rayne Kindergarten was recently awarded the Innovation in Education Grant which allowed for the purchase of an Active Table. The grant is funded through the Pugh Family Foundation and Community Foundation of Acadiana. The grant was written by Christy Higginbotham, principal, and Adrienne LeJeune, classroom teacher, and totaled $3,500. The Active Table has a 46-inch full HD LCD display which allows up to six learners to simultaneously use individual tools, web browsers and resources as their personal efforts move the group toward accomplishing a common goal. ActivTable activities are aligned to common core standards and provides for differentiated instruction. On February 18, 2014, Central Rayne Kindergarten was honored with a visit from Nick and Nan Pugh, founders of the Pugh Family Foundation, who viewed the Active Table being utilized by students in Kelly Nero’s class.
