Cart, Hamilton wed during evening ceremony

Kori Liane Cart and Joseph Michael Hamilton of Baton Rouge were united in matrimony on Saturday, March 13 during an evening ceremony officiated by Reverend Joe Talhelm at Nottoway Plantation in White Castle.

Kori is the daughter of Elizabeth Martin Cart and Gregory Cart of Iota. She is the granddaughter of Carmen Martin and the late Sherman Martin, and the late Hilary and Katherine Cart, all of Iota.

She is a 2004 graduate of Iota High School and a 2008 graduate of Louisiana State University of Baton Rouge. She is employed at Assurance Financial Group.

Joseph is the son of Randy and Vivian Hamilton of Denham Springs. He is the grandson of Darlene Williams of Winchester, IN and the late Keith Williams, and the late Earl and Mary Ruth Hamilton of North Port, FL.

He is a 2006 graduate of Denham Springs High School and he attended Louisiana State University. He is employed at BBP Sales.

During the ceremony, scripture readings were provided by Reverend Brad McKenzie and Ruth Barbier.

Ushering guests to their seats were Kole Kindschuh and Jacob Sevin, friends of the groom.

Escorted by her father, the bride was radiant in a modified sweetheart strapless A-line ivory gown that was detailed with lace and beads. The dropped torso flowed into a cathedral train with back button detail. Her headpiece consisted of a small comb made of ivory pearls and Swarovski crystals.

She carried a bouquet of ivory and light pink roses and ivory stephanotis flowers accented with crystals.

Traditional items she incorporated were her grandmother’s handkerchief as something old; her wedding dress as something new; her aunt’s broach as something borrowed, and her undergarments as something blue.

Serving as maid of honor was Ashlen Boudreaux, friend of the bride. Bridal attendants were Meagan Foreman and Hannah Daigle, cousins of the bride, and Lisa Hamilton, sister of the groom.

Attendants were attired in strapless matte satin dresses that featured A-line tea-length skirts in ivory and black with gathering around the waist. They carried bouquets of light pink roses.

Josh Hamilton, brother of the groom, attended as best man. Groomsmen were David Barleycorn, Aaron Clark and Andrew Sylvest, friends of the groom.

Leela Johnson, family friend of the bride served as flower girl. She was escorted by ring bearer, Luke Mere, cousin of the bride.

Elizabeth Martin Cart, mother of the bride, chose a purple tea-length dress paired with a matching jacket for the occasion. The dress featured a v-neckline and a crisscross bodice with brooch detailing.

Vivian Williams Hamilton, mother of the groom, chose a jacket embroidered with flowers paired with a gold knee-length skirt.

Both mothers were presented corsages made of light pink sweetheart roses.

A reception that followed the ceremony was held at Nottoway Plantation in White Castle.

The reception hall was elegant with ivory floral centerpieces on each table The focal point of the room was a candlelit cake table.

The wedding cake was a three-tiered round confection that was topped with buttercream icing. Completing the cake was a small polka dot design.

The groom’s cake was a chocolate sheet confection decorated with a fleur-de-lis and a tiger’s eye.

Out of town guests registered from Texas, Indiana, Ohio, Florida and North Carolina.

Following a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple will reside in Baton Rouge.

On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner hosted by the groom’s parents was held at Nottoway Plantation. Guests were served roasted pork chops, spicy shrimp alfredo, chicken parmesan, eggplant lasagna with chicken tenders for the kids.
