Evening nuptials unite Kelli Rhyne and Taylor Mahaffey

Kelli Ann Rhyne of Linden, Texas and Taylor Wayne Mahaffey of Crowley were united in holy matrimony during a 7 p.m. nuptial ceremony on November 28, 2009. Father Gary Schexnayder officiated the event at Our Lady Help of Christians in Jennings.

During the ceremony, musical selections were provided by Brent Badon,, organist; Paul Roberts, trumpeter; and vocals by the Agape’ Choir. An Old Testament reading was read by Jeanne Shaw, aunt of the bride, while a New Testament reading was read by Greg Broussard, uncle of the groom. The Prayer of the Faithful was read by Bonnie Walton, family friend of the groom.

The bride was escorted by her father, David Rhyne, wearing a formal ivory full length A-Line strapless gown. The corset bodice featured a dropped waistline and was romantically embellished with an embroidered beaded motif comprised of swarovski crystals, bugle beads, seed beads, glass beads and sequins. The skirt featured royal embellishments detailing the caught-up accents cascading into a bubble hemmed chapel length train. Her lavish attire also included a headpiece of ivory soft illusion tulle double tiered fingertip length veil. Both tiers were delicately edged with bugle beads and pearls.

Included in her wedding attire were traditional items of something old, her mother’s garter; something new, her wedding gown, and something blue, bows on her shoes.

The bride was attended by her sister and maid of honor, Sarah Alaine Rhyne. Bridal attendants included Shelley Hunt, friend of the bride; Jaclyn Pedersen, cousin of the bride; Miia Guinn, sister of the groom; and Mariette Mahaffey, sister-in-law of the groom. The ladies wore black chiffon single shoulder dresses with silk criss-cross waistbands.

Serving as best man was the groom’s cousin, Robbie Broussard. Groomsmen included Cory Forestier, friend of the groom; Christopher Mahaffey, brother of the groom; Jesse Rhyne, brother of the bride and John Michael Mahaffey, brother of the groom.

Attending the event as flower girls were Julia Guinn and Audrey Mahaffey, nieces of the groom.

Ushering wedding guests to their seats were Eric Mahaffey and William Mahaffey brothers of the groom as well as John Pierre Leleux, friend of the groom.

Following the nuptial ceremony, a reception was held at the Grand Marais ballroom in Jennings.

The bride is the daughter of David and Mary Rhyne of Linden, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Richard W. and Merle McMinn and Hallie Rhyne and the late Roy B. Rhyne, all of Linden, Texas. Kelli is a 2002 graduate of Linden-Kildare High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Disorders in 2005 from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Masters of Science in Speech Language Pathology in 2007. She is currently employed with Barousse and Bier Speech Center in Crowley.

The groom is the son of Mark and Cathy Mahaffey of Crowley. He is the grandson of Paul and Idell Knepper of Crowley, Robert C. Breaux of Crowley, and Mona Mahaffey and the late Billy Mahaffey of Keatchie. He is a 2001 graduate of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish. He is currently employed by Multi-Chem Production Chemicals.

The newly weds plan to live in Crowley upon their return from a wedding trip in Jamaica.
