Hebert, Segura exchange vows in New Iberia

NEW IBERIA - Alaina Marie Hebert and Michael Jude Segura, both of New Iberia, were wed on the evening of Friday, Nov. 23, 2012 at beautiful St. Peter’s Catholic Church in New Iberia. The Reverend Monsignor Keith Derouen officiated the 7 p.m. Nuptial Mass.

The bride is the daughter of Scott and Jessica Hebert of Youngsville. She is the granddaughter of Dayton and Yvonne Harmon Oliver, and Gabriel Jr. and Elaine Hebert, all of New Iberia. She is the great-granddaughter of the late Theodore and Lucy Oliver of Egan; the late Winson “Freck” Harmon and Dorothy Harmon Miller of Egan; the late Lawson and Pearly Babineaux of New Iberia; and the late Gabriel Sr. and Octavia Hebert of New Iberia.

Alaina graduated from Catholic High School in New Iberia in 2003 before attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations in 2010. She is currently employed as the communications coordinator with the Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce.

The groom is the son of Lynn and Brenda Segura of New Iberia. He is the grandson of the late Wilton and Rita Broussard, and the late Alton and Lois Bodin Segura, all of New Iberia. He is the great-grandson of the late Numa and Edmae LaBiche Sr. of Lydia; the late Edmond and Marie Broussard of Lydia; the late Fernand and Daisy Bonin of New Iberia; and the late Ulger and Lola Segura of Loreauville.

Michael is a 2002 graduate of Delcambre High School and holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial technology from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He is presently employed as the general manager of Cypress Machine Shop, Inc. in Broussard.

Lauren, Andrew and Jacob Dugas, cousins of the bride, greeted guests and provided them with programs. Guests were ushered to their seats by Justin Guidry and Alex Crochet, friends of the groom.

Karen Broussard, vocalist and organist, performed selected musical pieces for the ceremony.

Escorted by her father, Alaina was lovely in an ivory gown featuring a trumpet silhouette. The fitted, delicately ruched bodice was adorned with a vintage beaded belt at the waist, and the V-shaped back cascaded down into a classic chapel train. The dress was embellished in its entirety with lace appliques. To complement her gown, Alaina selected an ivory two-tier fingertip veil with a silk-corded edge.

Alaina carried a clutch bouquet of white hydrangeas and off-white roses accented with light pink roses.

In keeping with tradition, she slipped a sixpence given to her by her grandmother into her shoe as “something old.” A silver daughter-in-law bell pendant tucked into her bouquet was “something new,” and a chaplet rosary belonging to the groom’s grandmother, Rita Mawfy Broussard, was “something borrowed.” Alaina’s garter served as “something blue.”

Paige Hebert, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Brandi Romero, Brooke Froisy, Beth Viator and Kathy Menard, all friends of the bride. Stevie Stokes, cousin of the bride, was junior bridesmaid.

The bridal attendants wore celadon green full-length one-shouldered gowns with ruched bodices.

They carried bouquets of ivory hydrangeas, ivory roses, green dot poms, light pink roses and light blue delphinium.

Anna-Grace Hebert, godchild of the bride, served as flower girl. She was beautiful in a classic A-line dress in candlelight satin. The bodice of the dress featured beaded lace appliques, and a light mocha satin bow tied at the back.

Anna-Grace escorted the ringbearers, Cortland and Caiden Romero, also godchildren of the bride.

Nick Barrilleaux, close friend of the groom, served as best man. Standing as groomsmen were Zachary Hebert, brother of the bride; Joshua Landry, cousin of the groom; and George Viator and Hunter Menard, friends of the groom.

The mother of the bride wore mink-colored gown featuring a ruched bodice and floor-length skirt. The sophisticated Montage design was finished with a bolero jacket.

The mother of the groom selected an R.M. Richards two-piece ensemble with a floor-length skirt. Bead work embellished the waist and a bolero jacket completed the ensemble.

Offertory gifts were presented by Ronnie Segura, godfather of the groom, and his wife Tina.

Gabriel and Garrett Hebert, cousins of the bride, were altar servers.

Following the wedding, a reception for the newlywed couple was held at Keith’s Ballroom in Broussard.

The bride’s cake was a three-tiered confection filled with Bavarian cream and decorated with buttercream frosting. The bottom tier was adorned with roses; the middle tier was embellished with a bow and an antique brooch belonging to the bride’s grandmother; and the uppermost tier was trimmed with miniature pearls and topped with a scroll encrusted with rhinestones and crystals and bearing the couple’s initials.

The groom’s cake was made in the shape of a pond with cattails, ducks and a red fish jumping out to reflect the groom’s sporting hobbies. It was displayed for serving among pictures of the bride fishing in her wedding dress.

Out-of-town guests traveled from Texas and various points throughout Louisiana.

One week prior to the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the City Club in New Iberia. Guests enjoyed corn and crab bisque, chicken and sausage gumbo and bread pudding.

Following a wedding trip to Cabo San Lucas, the couple will reside in Broussard.
