On Tuesday evening at the Rice Palace in Crowley, the people that annually put on Crowley’s biggest show gathered for the unveiling of the official 2015 International Rice Festival poster.
And even though the poster’s artist, Tony Bernard, was running late due to a scheduling conflicts, nobody seemed impatient or upset. In fact, the mood had the feel of family gathering.
“It will be here before you know it,” said this year’s Rice Festival President Troy Perry. “Just two more months.”
When Bernard arrived with his painting, the reviews were pretty much the same as they have been for the past five years.
“When we saw the first poster Tony did for us a five years ago it was so good we just began to commission him each year,” said Festival Vice President Jay Suire. “This year’s poster is no different.”
The poster, which displays a rice combine in a field shaped like Louisiana with an American Flag backdrop, was based on the theme for this year’s festival: - Red, Rice, Blue - Rice...The American Grain.
