Lady Wolves Win Jennings Volleyball Tournament

The Lady Wolves Volleyball Team collected five wins enroute to a tournament championship over the weekend as they travel to Jennings.

Rayne claimed wins over DeQuincy, Northside, Hamilton Christian and Sulphur before claiming the first place trophy with a win over Northside Christian.

Excelling at the net for the Lady Wolves during the tournament were Katie Benoit (27 kills), Taylor Arceneaux (22 kills, 6 blocks), Niesha Domingue (20 kills), Layni Boudreaux (15 kills), Blair Bergeron (9 kills, 1 block), Sidney Fontenot (6 kills) and Charlesha Dugas (3 kills, 3 blocks).

Leading assists on offense were Layni BOudreaux (43), Mia Guidry (34) and Charlyne Peltier (13).

Back row stats for digs were led by Mary Peltier (33), Haley Comeaux (22), Katie Benoit (14), Mia Guidry (12), Niesha Domingue (12) and Blair Bergeron (3).

In earlier district action, the Lady Wolves fell to Breaux Bridge in three games, but recorded a 3-game win over DeQuincy.

Rayne stands at 18-8 overall and are 4-1 in district play. They were scheduled to host Cecilia and Teurlings this week, two tough foes in their district.

NOTE: Annual Pink Game (Volley For A Cure) will see the Lady Wolves host Sacred Heart of Grand Goteau on Oct. 30 in order to help promote breast cancer awareness.
