Northside Christian tops ESA in basketball season opener

CROWLEY – Joseph Trahan poured in a game-high 28 points Monday to help lead the Northside Christian Warriors to an impressive 68-43 victory over ESA at Seth Trahan Memorial Gym.
The contest was the 2013-14 season opener for both teams.
Trahan just missed out on a triple-double after recording 11 rebounds to go along with eight steals.
Ty Wilson followed Trahan with 17 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Tracy Wilridge added a double-double with 15 points and 11 assists. He also had three rebounds and three steals.
Also contributing in the victory were Nick Zaunbrecher (6 points and 6 rebounds) and Nick Martin (2 points).
The Warriors took on Jehovah-Jireh last night, but results of that game were not available as of press time.
Northside will be in action again on Thursday when the Warriors take on Hathaway at 4 p.m. in the opening round of the Lacassine tournament. They will then play Holden at 4 p.m. on Friday and Lacassine at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Midland Basketball
The Midland Rebels and Lady Rebels will kick off the 2012-14 prep basketball season on Thursday when they each participate in the Fairview Tournament.
The Lady Rebels tip off the season at 3:30 p.m. against Plainview. The Rebels will also take on Plainview at 5 p.m.
Both teams will be in action again on Friday when they each take on Simsboro. The Lady Rebels will hit the court at 6:30 p.m. while the Rebels will follow at 8 p.m.
