Prep Roundup: Bulldogs top Wildcats

VILLE PLATTE – Iota placed three players in double figures Monday and cruised to a 47-34 victory over Livonia in the opening round of the Sacred Heart Tournament.
The victory sent the Bulldogs to 3-0 on the season
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 22-14 lead in the first half behind six points from Zack Hebert and four from Curtis Antoine.
Steven Cooper and Luke Reed each had six points in the third frame when the Dogs outscored the Wildcats 17-10 to take a 39-24 cushion into the final stanza.
The Wildcats managed to outscore the Bulldogs 10-8 in the fourth quarter.
Cooper led the Bulldogs with 12 points while Reed and Hebert each had 10.
Also contributing in the victory were Kyle Smith with six points, Anotine with four, Garrett Reppond with three and Triston Fontenot with two.
A victory over Sacred Heart last night would put the Bulldogs into tonight’s championship game at 8 o’clock.

St. Martinville 27

BREAUX BRIDGE – The Crowley Ladies rallied from a three-point halftime deficit and outscored St. Martinville 14-6 in the second half to pick up their first victory of the season Tuesday in the second round of the Breaux Bridge Tournament.
The Ladies took a slim 26-25 advantage in the third quarter and limited St. Martinville to just two points in the final stanza.
Mya Rogers led the Ladies with eight points while Teara Breaux, Alanna Plummer and Nykeila Winters each scored six points. Saquoya Savoy pitched in four points and Taylor Dapremont had two.
In other tournament action on Monday, the Midland Lady Rebels fell to St. Thomas More in the STM Tournament.
