Hodges earns ASC honor

CLINTON, MS – Former Notre Dame standout and current Mississippi College star Paige Hodges is continuing where he left off after shining for two years at LSUE.

The junior all-around performer recently earned the American Southwest Conference Hitter of the Week honor for his performance against Rhodes and Spalding.

Hodges paced a 3-1 week by hitting .667 with two home runs, three doubles and seven RBI. He went 8-for-10 in a doubleheader sweep of Spalding, scoring eight runs while not striking out once during the series.

Hodges currently leads the Choctaws (16-13) in nearly every offensive category, including at-bats (99), runs scored (24), hits (40), doubles (9), home runs (5), total bases (66) and slugging percentage (.667). His .404 batting average is just five points behind team leader Brannon Walls.

He has 15 multiple hit games and six multiple RBI games this season and is currently on a six-game hit streak.

On defense, Hodges has also been quite productive.

He has played in every game this year, totaling 16 starts behind the plate, seven at third base and three at shortstop. He also took on the role of designated-hitter in two games. Overall, Hodges has a fielding percentage of .961.

While at LSUE, Hodges had a career average of .330 with three home runs, 34 RBI and 12 stolen bases. He was named the Most Outstanding Player following his freshman season in which the Bengals won the National Junior College Championship. He was also honored with the Coach’s Award last year.

At Notre Dame, Hodges was a three year starter, earning All-District honors all three years. He was an All-State honorable mention as a senior.

He is the son of Clyde and Catherine Hodges of Crowley.
