Jimmy Ancelet retires
Jimmy Ancelet enjoyed a belated retirement party on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Chef Roy’s Frog City Cafe.
His career as a public servant spanned 45 years, with the last 22 years working with the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Department as a deputy in the Civil Division.
He joined the Sheriff’s Office on the very day in August 1987 when he retired after 22 years as a game warden with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
He started his public service in 1964 as a driver’s license worker.
Sheriff Wayne Melancon was on hand Saturday night to presented Ancelet with a commemorative plaque. Also in attendance were Ancelet past supervisor, Martin LaCroix, and current supervisor, Harold Pousson.
The retiree also received a plaque from his family, honoring his public careers, and a gold watch.
