Ariel Michelle Mire weds Ryan James Broussard

IOTA - The Point aux Loups Springs Ballroom was the setting on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, for a double-ring wedding ceremony uniting Ariel Michelle Mire and Ryan James Broussard, both of Scott, in marriage.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Corwin M. Mire of Rayne. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Glen Kibodeaux of Rayne, Milton Mire of Rayne and the late Ora Mire. She is a 2005 graduate of Rayne High School and a 2012 graduate of South Louisiana Community College in Lafayette with an associate’s degree in general studies. 

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Broussard of Youngsville. His grandparents are Ms. Joyce Stelly of Duson, Bonnie Broussard of Abbeville and the late Everett Broussard. He is a 2002 graduate of Erath High School and is employed at Exterran in Broussard.

The ceremony area of the Ballroom was decorated with white linen drapery while each post was tied with assorted white, champagne, and ivory flowers. The room was centered with a crystal chandelier hanging down that could be seen just below the drape for a soft and romantic ambiance. The two white isle markers were topped with silver candelabras detailed with hanging crystals and accented with white, ivory champagne flowers atop each. 

Guests were greeted with a white aisle runner scripted with a large cursive letter “B” for Broussard and the couple’s names and wedding date along the edge. Silver unity candles stood on crystal and rhinestone pillars near the area where the couple repeated their wedding vows. A sign that read, “As two families become one, please take a seat and not a side,” was observed on a table top easel welcoming guests to the ceremony.

The six o’clock evening ceremony was officiated by Dustin Blanchard, a family friend. Scripture readings were recited by the bride’s cousin, Patrick Cormier.

On the arm of her father, the bride was radiant in a sleek, Casablanca gown of champagne satin detailed with rhinestones, Swarovski crystals, crystal sequins, silver beadwork and embroidery.  The neckline featured a soft, sweetheart styling while the skirt was a fit and flare silhouette with beaded buttons covered in crystals ending at embellishments on the cathedral-length train. She wore a waltz-length veil of sheer champagne illusion edged with a rhinestone hem and held in place with a rhinestone-encrusted hair comb. Her wedding bouquet was a mixture of white, champagne, and ivory peonies detailed in the center with rhinestone brooches. The stems were wrapped in white and champagne satin with a rhinestone brooch accent along with a cross pendant from her late grandmother, which was added for something old. 

Additional traditional items selected by the bride for her wedding day was her wedding gown as something new, a borrowed rhinestone bracelet, and a lace and rhinestone brooch garter was something blue.

Attending as maid of honor was her friend, Victoria LaCroix. Bridesmaids were Sarah Lawlis, future sister-in-law of the bride; and dear friends Jennifer Tate, Ashley Prejean, Brooke Thibodeaux, Hannah Hebert and Paige Broussard. 

Each bridal attendant wore a Bari Jay dress in eggplant purple chiffon over satin designed with a one-shoulder styling and gathered at the waist with a flowing, knee-length, A-lined skirt. Each carried a round bouquet of hot pink roses, bright coral roses and lime green hydrangeas gathered with silk and accented with rhinestone brooches.

Serving as flower girl was Madison Broussard, daughter of friend and bridesmaid Paige Broussard. She wore a custom-designed, one shoulder dress featuring a white satin top with angled roses over a large layered white A-lined skirt of tulle finished with a long tulle train. A white headband with a white satin flower accent completed her ensemble. She carried a flower pomander of white, ivory and champagne flowers which hung from her wrist.

Best man was Jake Broussard, brother of the late best friend, Colby Broussard. Groomsmen were Arlin Mire, brother of the bride, and friends Jarod Moore, Brett Delcambre, Kodi Istre, Blake Foreman, Dustin Dugas and Dane Thibodeaux.

Ring bearer was Keagan Prejean, son of bridesmaid Ashley Prejean and her husband, Mike Prejean.

Ushers were Nicholas Stelly, uncle of the groom, and Arlin Mire, brother of the bride.

Male attendants and fathers of the couple all wore fitted Vera Wang tuxedoes with lavender vests and boutonnieres of lime green orchids.

Libby Paige, the couple’s nine-year-old Yorkshire terrier was walked down the aisle with a rhinestone leash by the flower girl and ring bearer.

For her daughter’s wedding, the mother of the bride wore a jewel-toned, purple satin sleeveless, fitted, knee length dress with a wide neckline designed with unique square pleating. She carried a bouquet of hot pink roses, bright coral roses and lime green hydrangeas.

The groom’s mother selected a lavender and black dress designed with a V-neck lace top over a black high-waist, knee-length styled tiered skirt. She also carried a bouquet of hot pink roses, bright coral roses and lime green hydrangea.

Immediately following the wedding ceremony, a reception was held in honor of the newlyweds on site. The entrance table was covered in a bronze/copper linen fabric with rhinestone accents and held rhinestone picture frames of the couple with a crystal jewelry box, along with a rhinestone encrusted guest registry book and pen set. To the side of the entrance table was an easel with a portrait of the bride in her wedding dress taken inside the great white room at the Nottoway Plantation in White Castle. Guest tables were covered with purple linen tablecloths covered with ivory pintucked table runners, centered with round mirrors, and accented with floral arrangements of hot pink roses, bright coral roses and lime green hydrangea in crystal and chrome holders against a candle light ambiance.

Among the refreshments provided was the bride’s cake, a unique triple-layer, round three-tiered confection. Atop rhinestone-wrapped cake plateaus, the bottom layer was champagne, ivory and white fondant designed with scalloped rhinestone trim and filled with chocolate cream. The middle layer, filled with Bavarian cream and covered in white and champagne fondant, was wrapped with a white ribbon and tied with a rhinestone brooch. The top tier, topped with a rhinestone “B” initial, was of champagne fondant and filled with chocolate cream filling and designed with a crisscross design accented with rhinestones at each crossing point. The cake was served by the bride’s godmother, Michelle Koury.

The groom’s cake was a two-tier, round confection of milk chocolate dripping with dark chocolate fondant filled with peanut butter and chocolate. Reese’s Peanut Butter cups of milk and dark chocolate were crumbled on top and around each layer and placed on a round engraved silver plateau. The cake was served by the groom’s mother, Roxanne Broussard.

Other refreshments were pork egg rolls, Spanikopitas filled with spinach and cheese, Crawfish Mornay in tart shells, baked brisket with pocket bread, pork and sausage jambalaya, chicken in a cream pasta sauce, marinated vegetables, fruit display, Seven Layer Tex Mex dip, hot crab dip, and assorted beverages.

Guests attended the wedding from Rayne, Crowley, Duson, Lafayette, Abbeville, Baton Rouge, and numerous points of Texas. 

A photo booth was also enjoyed by the guests and wedding party members during the reception. Also enjoyed in a side room was a special slide show created by the groom which included family photos and pictures of the couple’s dating and engagement years.

A Cajun tradition for weddings, when a younger sibling weds before the older sibling the older sibling, dances either with a broom or mop was observed during the reception. Since the bride married before her brother, he danced to Rick James’s “Super Freak” with a mop designed by his grandmother, Lucy Kibodeaux, and her friend, Barbara Savant, in honor of the Cajun tradition.

Following their wedding trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, the couple plans to make their home in Scott.

Prior to the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was held Friday, Sept. 20, at the Point Aux Loups Springs Ballroom in Iota. The 6 p.m. social was hosted by the groom’s parents.
