Kourie Henry weds Travis Dain Martin
Kourie Elizabeth Henry, of Midland, and Travis Dain Martin, of Delcambre, were united during a nuptial mass on July 25, 2009 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Mermentau, officiated by Father David Broussard.
The bride is the daughter Learney and Lucy Henry of Midland. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Eula Garrie and the late Oran Garrie of Gueydan, and the late Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Henry of Midland. She is a 2000 graduate of Midland High School and received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from McNeese State University in 2006. The bride is currently employed as a staff accountant at Carmichael’s in Crowley.
The groom is the son of Donald and Vicki Martin of Delcambre. He is the grandson of Mrs. Vergie Landry and the late Preston Landry and the late Mr. and Mrs. Aramise Martin Sr. all of Delcambre. He is a 1995 graduate of Delcambre High School and is currently employed at Carbo Ceramics in New Iberia.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a white Casa Blanca strapless gown. It was a simply designed romantic Cinderella dress. It had a soft sweetheart bodice and lined with princess seams which complimented the A-line pleats of the chapel length train. Adding an elegant touch, it featured an array of beautiful beading and embroidery blanket on the entire sleek satin gown. She wore a matching headpiece with beading that accented the veil. A crystal and pearl tiara to complete her wedding attire.
The bride carried a hand tied bouquet of white with pink tip roses, orange rose buds, white calla lilies, and orange daises. The stems were wrapped with white satin ribbon pinned with the bride’s maternal grandmother’s camelot broach. The bride’s paternal grandmother’s rosary was intertwined in the bouquet.
In keeping with tradition the bride carried her grandmother’s mother of pearl rosary as something old. The wedding attire including the bride’s gown, veil and tiara were something new. A camelot broach pinned to the bridal bouquet was borrowed from her grandmother, and the bride’s shoes were worn as something blue.
Serving as maid of honor was Darla Henry, sister of the bride. The bridal attendants included Lori Henry, cousin of the bride; Lannie Brignac, friend of the bride; Aimee Humble, cousin of the bride; Shavaun Miller, friend of the bride; Nancy Myers, cousin of the bride; Chrissie Broussard, friend of the bride and groom; Chelsea Newman, cousin of the bride; Jaimie Leger, friend of the bride; and Erin Veronie, friend of the bride. Serving as Jr. bridesmaid was Brittany Klumpp, cousin of the bride.
The attendants wore a two piece Mori Lee A-line chiffon strapless bodice with vertical shirring over the empire and asymmetrical draping at the waistline with matching shawls. Completing their look each had a pearl necklace, earrings and bracelet as a gift from the bride. They carried a hand held bouquet of orange roses, yellow calla lilies, orange daises and white with pink tip roses accented with pearls.
Sean Broussard, friend of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen included Zachary Pitrie, cousin of the groom; Justin Hebert, friend of the groom; Grant Regan, friend of the groom; Philip Oliver, friend of the groom; Luke Landry, cousin of the groom; Chance Henry, cousin of the bride; Spencer Landry, cousin of the groom; Kevin Arceneaux, friend of the groom; Bradley Breaux, friend of the bride. Serving as Jr. Groomsman was Dylan Miller, friend of the bride. Bryson martin, brother of the groom was an honorary groomsman.
The flower girl Mallory Broussard is godchild of the groom. Serving as ring bearer was godchild of the bride, Brody Myers.
Serving as the bell ringer was godchild of the bride, Kailyn Chavis. She wore a replica of the bride’s dress and held a small silver bell with a white sheer bow attached.
Greeting guests as they arrived were Emily Lucas, cousin of the bride and Lexi Creighton, friend of the groom. Ushers included Keith Henry, godfather of the bride and Wendell Landry, uncle of the groom.
Scriptures were read by Keith Henry and Jamie Saunier, cousin of the groom. Stephanie Suire, godmother of the bride and Rockell Landry, aunt of the groom presented offertory gifts. Musical selections were provided by vocalist Bridget Touchet and organist Manique LeBlanc. Mervina Newman, aunt of the bride, participated as Eucharist minister.
The mother of the bride, Lucy Garrie Henry, wore a three piece suit. It featured 3/4 length sleeves of sage green accenting the top and jacket were pearl and sequins around the neckline. Vicki Landry Martin, mother of the groom, donned a three piece champagne colored suit. Her attire was accented with sequins on the jacket and the front of the blouse.
A reception immediately following the ceremony was held at the Rice Festival building. The hall was decorated throughout with a array of large arrangements consisting of daises, roses, calla lilies, hydrangeas and hibiscus in pink, orange, and yellow spring time colors. Seen throughout was also different items depicting a fleur de lis theme.
The wedding cake was a round four-tier confection on a square plateau with butter cream icing. The base layer consisted of a strawberry filling with pearl criss cross beaded detailing and accented with fleur de lis. The second layer was filled with Bavarian cream, accented with fleur de lis and pearls, the third layer of the wedding confection featured pineapple filling adorned with the couple’s initials written on the cake. The final layer had chocolate filling and tassels draped from under the floral arrangement of pink tip roses, orange daisies, and pearls. Stephanie Suire served the wedding cake.
The groom’s cake followed an LSU theme. The cake consisted of a replica of the LSU official jersey along with LSU helmet, football and a side cake featuring the LSU emblem. Susan Melder, godmother of the groom, served the butter cream cake.
Guests traveled from throughout Louisiana, California, Washington, and Texas.
Following a wedding trip to Honolulu, Hawaii, the couple will reside in Midland.
A rehearsal dinner was held at 7 p.m. on July 23, 2009 at the G&H Seed kitchen. The dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents. The menu included brisket, rice dressing, corn, bread and chocolate and pina colada cake.
