1963 ST. JOSEPH HIGH 8TH GRADERS INVITED - Members of the St. Joseph High School 8th grade class of 1963 were also invited as special guests for the reunion of the St. Joseph High class of 1967. St. Joseph High class of ‘67 celebrates reunion

 

Graduates of the St. Joseph High School graduating class of 1967 gathered at Chef Roy’s Frog City Café on Saturday, April 26, in celebration of their 47-year anniversary of their graduation  from the former high school.

Reunion committee members in charge of planning the event were Angela Faulk Wall, Bertha Gary LaCombe, Elaine Richard Roy, Linda Thibodeaux McDaniel, Suzette Newman Mader and Diana Dupont Howard.

A memorial service was held in honor of Mr. Louis Maloz and Linda Hanks Cormier, in addition to remembering all other deceased family members of the graduating class of 1967, the final graduating class of St. Joseph High School for the formation of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish.

Dinner was catered by the staff of Chef Roy’s Frog City Café, with special desserts prepared by classmate Michael Junot.

Approximately 45 guests were in attendance for the reunion from Rayne, Crowley, Lafayette, broussard, Baton Rouge, Morgan City, New Orleans, Houma, Loreauville, Erath, Jefferson, Alexandria, Breaux bridge, and points of Texas including Tomball and Austin.

Classmates in attendance were Meg Sweeney Ruch, Janet Monte Matte, Mary Alice Habetz Pastor, Lois Zaunbrecher Harpole, Bertha Gary LaCombe, Elaine Richard Roy, Suzette Newman Mader, Josette Cook Surratt, Kenneth Guidry, Michael Junot, Fred Richard, Jacques Privat, Diana Dupont Howard, Robert “Boby” Fontenot, Angela Faulk Wall, Dave A. Besse III, Dan Privat and Tommy Adams.

Classmates unable to attend were Linda Thibodeaux McDaniel, Jennifer Hebert Cradeur, Cathy Richard Fealing, Melba Robichaux Spencer, Lucille Theunissen Guidry, Beth Bihm Waxman, Glen Melancon, Rodney Boudreaux and Richard Johansen.

Members of the St. Joseph 8th grade class were invited as special guests for the reunion. Those in attendance were Leslie Leger, Raymond Hebert, Sherrie Heinen Hanley, Kathleen Rhotenberry Huttenhower, Gwen LaBauve Melancon, Ann Privat Burch and Jackie Hains.

Special guests and former teachers in attendance were Bishop Emeritus Sam Jacobs, Sr. Angele Marie Sadler, I. Carm., Mr. and Mrs. Earl Price, and Ms. Dale Gary.

Deceased classmates remembered were Louis Maloz and Linda Hanks Cormier.

Class officers were president Kenneth Guidry, vice president Robert “Bobby” Fontenot, secretary Josette Cook Surratt and treasurer Jacques Privat.

Remembered was the class song, (You’ll Never Walk Alone;” class flower, sweet heart rose; class colors, burgundy and pink; and the class motto, “Not Evening But Dawn.”

Special invites for the reunion were the 1963 St. Joseph eighth grade class, including Leslie Leger, Raymond Hebert, Sherrie Heinen Hanley, Kathleen Rhotenberry Huttenhower, Gwen LaBauve Melancon, Ann Privat Burch and Jackie Hains.
