Myers, Fontenot united during Nuptial Mass

Lauren Beth Myers of Estherwood and Charles Brett Fontenot of Ville Platte were united as husband and wife during a double ring ceremony held on the evening of Friday, May 2.

Fr. Randy Moreau celebrated the 7 p.m. Nuptial Mass at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church in Estherwood.

The bride is the daughter of Donnie and Susan Hoffpauir Myers of Estherwood. Her maternal grandparents are the late Rodney and Eileen Eagan Hoffpauir of Gillis, and her paternal grandparents are the late Don L. “Jay” and Helen Sellers Myers of Estherwood. 

Lauren graduated from Midland High School in 2003 before earning degrees in marketing and business management from McNeese State University in 2007. She is currently employed by the Acadia Parish School Board.

The groom is the son of Charles and Voncille Guillotte Fontenot of Ville Platte. His grandparents are Seraphin Joseph Guillotte and the late Ethelyne Mabel Fontenot Guillotte, and Eva Lou Fontenot and the late Irving Ben Fontenot, all of Ville Platte.

Charles is a 2005 graduate of Sacred Heart High School of Ville Platte and is currently employed as a field technician with Weatherford International.

Musical selections for the ceremony were provided by Naomi Broussard, who sang and played both the organ and guitar, and Joe Stemplewski, who played the trumpet and organ.

Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride was gorgeous in an ivory lace overlay gown featuring a fitted bodice, V-neckline and classic A-line silhouette. The back of the gown featured a deep V and was finished with a button closure, with the skirt flowing into a cathedral length train.

For her headpiece, Lauren selected a fingertip veil trimmed with lace and bead work.

She carried a clutch bouquet of ivory hydrangeas, ivory sweetheart roses and white lisianthus hand-tied with ivory lace and entwined with her late maternal grandmother’s rosary.

In keeping with tradition, the bride selected her late maternal grandmother’s rosary to serve as “something old” and her wedding attire to serve as “something new.” A St. Joseph medal loaned to the bride by her mother was “something borrowed,” and a London blue topaz ring that was a gift from her parents was “something blue.”

Brandi Landry Stacy, friend of the bride, served as matron of honor.

Serving as bridesmaids were Lynette Roxanne Guidry, cousin of the bride; Kayla Blackwell Kastner, Courtney Claire Chaisson, Casey Nicole Bergeaux, Ashley Breaux Medus and Melissa Bertrand Stanley, friends of the bride; and Megan Hargrave Myers, sister-in-law of the bride.

The bridal attendants were clad in full-length navy blue chiffon dresses featuring empire waists and either one-shoulder or strapless necklines according to the attendants’ preferences.

They carried bouquets of antique blue hydrangeas interspersed with greenery and tied with ivory ribbon.

Londyn Blaire Myers, godchild and niece of the bride, served as flower girl.

The groom selected his friend Delaney Fontenot to serve as best man. Brock Fontenot, Blaine Fontenot and Brandon Fontenot, brothers of the groom; Mitchell Myers, brother of the bride; Matthew Ramirez and Jordan West, friends of the groom; and Ryan Fusilier, cousin of the groom, stood as groomsmen.

The groom was clad in a dapper three-piece dark gray suit with an ivory vest and tie. His groomsmen, along with his father and the father of the bride, wore three-piece dark gray suits paired with navy blue vests and ties.

Ring bearers were Liam Joseph Myers, nephew of the bride, and Landon James Fontenot, godchild and nephew of the groom.

Selected scriptures were read by Benny Fontenot, godfather of the groom, and Tissa Matthews, cousin of the bride. 

Offertory gifts were presented by Christine Fontenot, godmother of the groom, and Denise Hebert, godmother of the bride.

For her daughter’s wedding, the mother of the bride, the former Susan Hoffpauir, selected a full length mink-colored gown featuring a lace bodice and three quarter sleeves.

The mother of the groom, the former Voncille Guillotte, chose a full length periwinkle-colored dress with a fashionable sequin jacket. 

Both mothers wore corsages of lisianthus and sweetheart roses.

Following the ceremony, the couple celebrated along with family and friends at a reception held at Pointe-aux-Loups Springs Ballroom in Iota.

The venue was filled with arrangements of fresh cut flowers, including ivory and antique blue hydrangeas. Flickering votive candles in hurricane globes topped the guest tables.

The bride’s four-tiered cake was trimmed with fresh antique blue hydrangeas from top to bottom.

The groom’s two-layer cake was made by his sister-in-law, Lauren Fontenot, and reflected his love for duck hunting.

Out-of-town guests at the wedding registered from Florida, Mississippi, Texas and various points throughout Louisiana. 

On the evening prior to the wedding, the parents of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner at Fezzo’s restaurant in Crowley. Guests enjoyed seafood, steaks, pasta and salad, along with bread pudding for dessert.

Following a wedding trip to Isla Mujeres, Mexico, Lauren and Charles are residing in Estherwood.
