Royal flags mark opening of Mardi Gras season

2013 Krewe of Town Revelers Mardi Gras Royalty, King Cimmer LVIII Greg Alan Jones and his Queen, Katie Shelton Chiasson, marked the opening of this year’s Mardi Gras season by hanging their official royal Mardi Gras flags. Similar flags, indicating past Kings and Queens of the Krewe of Town Revelers, can be seen hanging throughout Crowley, Rayne and Acadia Parish. The monarchs ruled over last year’s Mardi Gras Ball, themed “Carnivalesque du Cirque.” This year’s Mardi Gras Ball will be held on Saturday, March 1, at the Rice Festival Building. Tickets will be handled through an online ticket system and will go on sale in mid-January. Information may be obtained from members of the Crowley Town Club or by calling 783-1410.
