Library tells ‘Monday Night at the Movies’ schedule

The Acadia Parish Library has announced its new “Monday Night at the Movies” line-up, and it offers plenty for those who like drama.
• Jan. 25 - “Touch of Evil,” 1958, 95 minutes, black and white. A stark, perverse story of murder, kidnapping and police corruption in a Mexican border town. Directed by Orson Welles. Starring Charlton Heston and Janet Leigh, Orson Welles.
• Feb. 1 - “The Heiress,” 1949, 115 minutes, black and white. A young naive woman falls for a handsome young man. However, her emotionally abusive father suspects he is a fortune hunter. Directed by William Wyler. Starring Olivia deHavilland, Montgomery Clift and Ralph Richardson.
• Feb. 8 - “Mogambo,” 1953, 116 minutes, color. Clark Gable runs a big-game trapping company in Kenya. When Ava Gardner arrives, there is an immediate attraction between them. When a couple show up to film a documentary on gorillas, the wife (Grace Kelly) also takes a liking to Gable. Directed by John Ford.
• Feb. 15 - “You Can’t Take It with You,” 1938, 126 minutes, black and white. A man (James Stewart) from a family of rich snobs becomes engaged to a woman (Jean Arthur) from a good-natured but decidedly eccentric family. Directed by Frank Capra. Also stars Lionel Barrymore as the father of the eccentric family.
• Feb. 22, “All About Eve,” 1950, 138 minutes, black and white. An ingénue (Anne Baxter) insinuates herself into the company of an established but aging stage actress (Bette Davis) and her circle of friends. Directed by Joseph Mankiewicz. Also stars George Sanders.
All movies start at 6 p.m., and the showings are hosted by Dr. C. Richard Bier.
