Birthday celebration honors Pastor Joseph

CROWLEY - The Jerusalem Women Mission Ministry hosted a birthday celebration in honor of Pastor Sherard Marlon Joseph on Sunday, March 20, 2011 during a 9 a.m. worship service.

The youth ministry was in charge of the devotional period. The devotional scripture was read from Psalm 90:12 which states, “So teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”

During the fellowship period, the Jerusalem Church family, along with Pastor welcomed all visitors with friendly handshakes and loving hugs.

The responsive reading was led by Tedine Mayfield. The reading was from the book of John 4:7-12.

The youth choir sang inspirational songs to honor the pastor and Lois Martin sang spirit-led Zion songs in appreciation for Pastor Joseph.

The sermon was delivered by Reverend Eddie Martin of First Mount Carmel Baptist Church in St. Gabriel. Reverend Martin is the father-in-law of Pastor Joseph.

The color scheme and dress attire for this joyful celebration was the royal color purple, which is the pastor’s favorite color. Upon arrival, each church member, guests and visiting friends were greeted and presented a long stem purple rose and scriptural mints by Brenda G. Johnson and Mardessa Poydras.

First Lady Eliska Joseph, the pastor’s wife, and their children were present for this blessed occasion.

Birthday presentations and cards were presented to Reverend Sherard M. Joseph by Brenda G. Johnson on behalf of church members, family and friends.

After worship service, church members, family members and guests were invited to the dining area for fellowship and refreshments. Marsha Alexander, mission president, along with other mission ladies served as hostesses for this occasion.

The honorees cake was decorated with white icing, purple trim, purple roses, a bible and a picture of the honoree beautifully framed with purple trim on the cake. Also, a white table cloth and lavender rose petals were decoration for the cake table along with a large, decorative purple candle. The dining room tables were decorated with white table cloths and white and lavender crepe myrtle clusters in decorative crystal vases. A purple organza table cloth decorated the center of the main table with a purple and gold runner.

Pastor Joseph’s birthday party was enjoyed by everyone in attendance.
