Mrs. William Carl Hetzel

Evening Nuptial Mass unites Habetz, Hetzel

Jennifer Marie Habetz and William Carl Hetzel were united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony on Friday, Sept. 5, during a 7 p.m. Nuptial Mass at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Crowley.

Rev. Alan Trouille and Rev. Jared Suire concelebrated the mass with Rev. Gary Schexnayder. 

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Leonard Habetz of Crowley. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Reed Hoffpauir and the late Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Habetz Jr., also of Crowley. Jennifer is a graduate of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish and a graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication disorders. She obtained her teaching certification in elementary education form the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She is currently employed as a fifth grade teacher at Saint Michael School in Crowley.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Albert Hetzel Jr. of Crowley. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gerald Trouille Sr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl Albert Hetzel Sr., also of Crowley. William is a graduate of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish and a graduate of Lafayette General Medical Center School of Radiology. He is currently employed at Lafayette General Medical Center.                                                                                                                    

Escorted by her father, the bride chose a gorgeous Paloma Blanca gown in natural silk dupioni. The sleeveless embroidered Alençon lace bodice featured a bateau neckline and was adorned with pearl and crystal beading. The gown’s waistline was accented with a wide cummerbund embellished with a lace applique and pleated bow, and the ball gown skirt featured a flat A-line front. The back of the dress was finished with a lovely low bodice, with the skirt flowing into a cathedral train.

 In keeping with tradition, the bride accented her gown with a silk illusion cathedral length veil edged in delicate antique lace that she borrowed from Jamie Hetzel Guidry, sister of the groom. She carried a traditional hand-held bouquet of  hydrangeas, garden roses and ranunculus in shades of ivory and blush entwined with a rosary belonging to her paternal grandmother, Leona Cramer Habetz, which served as her something old. A lace handkerchief embroidered with her wedding date in light blue, given to her by her co-workers at St. Michael School, was tied around her bouquet and served as her something blue.

The mother of the bride, the former Cheryl Ann Hoffpauir, wore a beautiful floor length tiffany chiffon gown in teal. The dress was accented with a delicate lace neckline and sleeves, and a ruched bodice completed the elegant style.

The groom’s mother, the former Mary Kay Trouille, wore a two-piece champagne ensemble featuring a rosetta lace top with a boat neckline and three quarter length sleeves. The long chiffon skirt was accented with a black ribbon belt at the waistline.

Serving as matron of honor was Lauren Besse Doré, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Jill Christine Habetz, Kimberly Habetz Bernard and Kasey Habetz Patin, sisters of the bride; and Taylor Cart Valdetero, Kathryn Alleman Murrell and Valerie Hensgens Lyons, friends of the bride. 

The bridesmaids wore elegant knee length navy dresses with modest hemlines. The lightly ruched sleeveless bodices featured V-necklines, the A-line skirts flowed from defined waistlines.

Miss Grace Elizabeth Bernard and Miss Julia Catherine Patin, nieces of the bride, served as junior bridesmaids. They wore navy vintage-inspired dresses with boat necklines and structured bodices. The full skirts flowed from bow-embellished waistlines and featured box pleats and side slit pockets 

The flower girl, Miss Mary Rose Guidry, godchild of the groom, wore an ivory tea length dupioni silk dress with ascooped neckline and puff sleeves. Her hair was adorned with a garland of flowers.

Attending the groom as best man was Bryan Aymond Johnson, friend of the groom.  His groomsmen included Douglas Daniel Adams, cousin of the groom; and Ross Gregory Thibodeaux, Benjamin Paul Voitier, Nicholas Moody Leonards, Charles Scott Schumacher and Kenneth Michael Habetz, Jr., all friends of the groom.

Samuel Thomas Bernard and Christian Leonard Patin, godchildren of the bride, served as ring bearers.

Serving as ushers for the ceremony were Mark Eric Bernard and Jeremy Chad Patin, brothers-in-law of the bride, and Dexter Paul Guidry and Josh Edward Ambrose, brothers-in-law of the groom.

Scripture readings for the Mass were proclaimed by Jamie Hetzel Guidry, sister of the groom, and Kenneth M. Habetz Sr., godfather of the bride.

Gift bearers for the offertory were Karen Hetzel Ambrose, sister of the groom, Ellen Habetz Fussell, cousin of the bride, and Jerry and Becky Trouille, godparents of the groom. Alter server for the mass was Matthew Edmund Bernard, nephew of the bride.

Haley and Annalise Maloz, cousins of the bride, and Elizabeth Hetzel and Rose Landry, cousins of the groom, served as program attendants. 

Music for the ceremony was provided by Alberta Lyons, organist; Wilfred Green, trumpeter; Tommy Benoit, violinist; Betty Vidrine, harpist; and Jodi Bollich, vocalist. The musical selections included Pachelbel’s “Canon in D,” Clarke’s “Prince of Denmark’s March,” Frenk’s “Panis Angelicus,” Herren’s “Maria Zu Lieben” and Mouret’s “Rondeau.”

Following the ceremony, the parents of the bride were hosts at a reception for the new Mr. and Mrs. Hetzel at The Crossing at Mervine Kahn in Rayne.

After a wedding trip to the Bahamas, the couple plans to reside in Crowley.
