UPDATE: Crowley Police Department issues statement on homicide

Crowley Police are currently investigating the death of a person who was reported missing on Monday.

Latosha Johnson, 26, of Crowley was found deceased in her residence in the 1000 block of West Fourth Street just before 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Johnson’s mother reported her missing after not hearing from her since Saturday evening. Officers worked with the family trying to locate her. The family was concerned as Johnson and her live-in boyfriend had a domestic dispute late Saturday/early Sunday morning.

Family members entered her residence on Tuesday morning and discovered her to be concealed under bedroom furniture. Family members had previously checked the residence, but did not locate her due to the concealment.

“The victim was stabbed, however the corner’s office will have an autopsy completed to determine the cause of death,” said Chief K.P. Gibson.

Working with the Lafayette Police Department, Crowley Police were able to detain Johnson’s boyfriend identified as Larry Jackson, 22, of Crowley. Jackson was staying at a family member’s residence in Lafayette. Evidence obtained during the investigation led to Jackson being arrested on an arrest warrant for second degree murder. Bond has been set at $750,000.

“I appreciate the quick work of our officers and the assistance rendered by Lafayette Police to have an arrest completed within hours,” stated Gibson.
