Evening wedding nuptials join local couple

A double-ring wedding ceremony on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church united in marriage Katie Lane Trahan and Corey Ray Paul Trahan. The six o’clock evening ceremony was celebrated by Fr. Kendall Faulk, pastor.

The bride is the daughter of Raymond and Kathy Trahan of Rayne. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Shelvan Trahan of Kaplan and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Prejean of Rayne. She is a 2010 graduate of Rayne High School and a 2014 graduate of Acadiana Area Career College.

The groom is the son of Mona Trahan of Rayne and Rayford Trahan of Egan. His grandparents are Carroll Baudoin of Rayne, the late Goldie Baudoin, the late Robert Trahan and Geraldine Trahan of Egan. He is a 2013 SLCC graduate and is employed by Parker Drilling.

Against musical selections provided by Haas Cormier and Teffany Grimmer, guests were ushered to their seats by Wayland Trahan, godfather of the bride, and Mitchell Baudoin, godfather of the groom.

Scriptures were recited by Connie Carpenter, godmother of the bride, and Mark Baudoin, uncle of the groom.

Gifts were offered by Barbara Trahan, grandmother of the bride, and Geraldine Trahan, grandmother of the groom.

For her wedding day, the bride selected her mother’s wedding tiara as something old, her wedding dress was something new, her great-grandmother’s necklace and ring served as something borrowed, and her garter was something blue.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a radiant wedding dress of white taffeta adorned with Alencon lace details, a criss-cross bodice design, and a long, extravagant bustled train. Her headpiece included her mother’s wedding tiara from which flowed a midline veil accentuated with rhinestones and Alencon lace. She carried a cascading bouquet of white and mini blue and pink gerber daisies which held a locket and her great-grandmther’s jewelry nestled within.

Attending the bride as maid of honor was Shyelah Baudoin, a friend. Bridesmaids were Pamela Stelly, friend of the bride, and her cousins Lauren Signorelli, Samantha Signorelli, Jaida Trahan, Angela Trahan and Devanie Abshire.

Bridal attendants wore floor-lemgth dresses styled with a one-shoulder design, ruched bodice and floral accent. The maid of honor wore a lipstick chiffon tone, while bridesmaids were seen in a marine blue tone. Each carried a bouquet of blue and pink gerber daisies with mini blue, pink and white gerber daisies held by natural burlap.

The bride’s godchild, Maddisyn Trahan was flower girl for her godmother’s wedding, She wore a floor-length dress of white taffeta accented with Alencon lace and a bustled back. A rustic basket held white gerber daisies and mini pink and blue gerber daisies, along with a mini-locket.

Attending the groom as best man was his father, Rayford Trahan. Groomsmen were Raymond Trahan II, brother of the bride; Dominque Trahan, cousin of the bride; along with his cousins Tony Baudoin, Michael Trahan, Dylan Fruge and Shae Gotte.

Male attendants were seen on Jean Yvetes chocolate parisisn tuxedoes with coordinatig vests and tie, along with a gerber daisy boutonniere on the lapel.

Serving as ring bearer was Everitt Suire, godchild of the groom. He wore a Jean Yvetes white tuxedo with white vest and tie while carrying a brown rustic box with a satin pillow tucked inside.

For her daughter’s wedding, the former Kathy Prejean wore a floor-length dress in a mocha tone. The sleeveless silhouette was desigend with ruching at the natiral waist and a shutter skirt was embellished with sequins.

The groom’s mother, the former Mona Baudoin selected a light brown floor-length dress highlighted with lace three-quarter length sleeves.

Immediately following the wedding ceremony, the newlyweds were honored during a reception held at the Rayne Civic Center.

Among the western theme and refreshments was the bride’s cake, a three-tier square confection filled with strawberry mousse and topped with a western theme. The cake was served by Connie Carpenter, godmother of the bride.

The groom’s confection was a traditional chocolate sheetcake topped with a mudriding theme. The cake was served by Geraldine Trahan and Mitchell Baudoin, godparents of the groom.

Following a wedding cruise to Cozumel, Mexico, Belise and Isla Rogtan, Mahogony, the couple will make their home in Rayne.

Prior to the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was held Friday, May 23, at the Rayne Civic Center hosted by Gerald Lagrange and Mona Baudoin. Guests were served jambalaya with all the trimmings.
