Jade Guidry becomes Mrs. Brian Patrick Durio

Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church was the setting on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at six o’clock in the evening for a Nuptial Mass uniting Jade Blakely Guidry and Brian Patrick Durio in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony. Celebrant of the Mass and officiating the wedding service was the most Reverend Kendal Faulk, Pastor.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny (Pamela) Guidry and Mr. and Mrs. Danny (Lynette) Guidry, all of Rayne. Her grandparents are the late Wilbert and Lee B. Cary and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lee (Mary) Guidry.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Craig (Linda) Durio, of Rayne. He is the grandson of Mrs. Jeanette Simoneaux and the late Reginald V. Simoneaux, Sr., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lennard (Irene) Durio.
The ceremonial beauty of the service was enhanced with a lovely program of nuptial music provided by Kip Faulk, St. Joseph’s Choir Accompanist, and Esther Tyree, Violinist. Musical selections were in keeping with church tradition.
The mother of the bride was escorted into the church by her husband. The bride’s step-mother was escorted to her seat by the bride’s father. The groom, accompanied by his father, escorted his mother and grandmother to their appointed seats.
Ushering guests and also presenting the offertory gifts were Kaine Guidry, Coy Guidry, Quinn Guidry and Lexx Guidry, all brothers of the bride.
As “Trumpet Voluntary” filled the church and as customary, guests rose as the bride entered on the arm of her father. For her wedding day, the bride chose a trumpet-style formal gown of ivory Morilee by Blu. It featured off the shoulder cap sleeves and alencon lace appliques. The neckline was embellished with crystal beading, while the natural waist was noted with a beautiful crystal beaded belt. She carried a free form hand-tied bouquet of amnesia, peek-a-boo, porcelana and amelia roses in shades of ivory and coral, accented with pearls and tied with white chocolate satin ribbon. Placed within her bouquet was a rosary belonging to her late grandmother, Lee B. Cary.
Attending the bride as maid of honor was her sister, Mia Guidry.
Bridesmaid was Britany Cormier, friend of the bride.
Junior bridesmaid was Danni Grace Meche, the bride’s daughter.
Bridal attendants wore one-shoulder formal-length gowns of coral silk chiffon, while carrying hand-tied bouquets of coral and ivory roses, accented with apple green hydrangeas and miniature cymbidium orchids.
The junior bridesmaid wore an ivory tea length silk taffeta gown with pearl beaded bodice. She carried a smaller version of the bridesmaids’ bouquet.
Attending the groom as best man was a close friend, Luke Girouard.
Groomsman was Jaylon Reed, the bride’s son.
Junior groomsman was Wayland-Jude Meche, the bride’s son.
Immediately preceding the bride was the youngest member of the wedding party, Michael Alexander Krysezewski, godchild of the groom, who served as ring bearer.
The men of the wedding party were identically attired in formal charcoal tuxedos with matching neck ties.
For her daughter’s wedding day, Mrs. Guidry, the former Pamela Cary, chose a beautiful taupe silk gown with lace overlay. It featured a ruched bodice with cowl neckline. Mrs. Lynette Guidry, the bride’s step-mother, was noted wearing a lovely mint green sleeveless cocktail dress. Both carried a smaller version of the bouquet similar to that of the bridesmaids.
Mrs. Linda Simoneaux Durio, mother of the groom, selected a classic navy lace evening gown with jeweled embellished taffeta sash. Her floral bouquet of roses and miniature cymbidium orchids was pinned to her evening bag.
Readers of the sacred scripture were Ms. Rita P. Durio, aunt and godmother of the groom, and Jessi Cary, step-sister of the bride. Lay minister was Mrs. Debbie Allen, cousin of the bride, and altar server was Peyton Menard, friend of the couple.
As “Ave Maria” was beautifully sung, the couple carried a white rose to the Blessed Mother statue, entrusting their newly married life into her care and protection. Before departing, the couple also presented roses to their mothers in a tender moment of gratitude.
Immediately following the ceremony, family members hosted a reception for the newly wedded Mr. and Mrs. Durio at Point-aux Loups Springs Ballroom in Iota. Ivory wooden “D”s were hung on the grand antique entrance doors to the ballroom. The picturesque venue featured handsome floral centerpieces in colors of coral and ivory. Other table centerpieces included antique iron globes containing ivory pearls and candles. Tables were draped with ivory floor length linens.
The cake service was placed in front of a wall of windows overlooking Bayou Des Cannes. The table setting was artfully decorated by Mrs. Dolores Benoit, the bride’s aunt, who also served her cake. The bride’s cake was a 3-tiered confection topped with delicate ivory buttercream icing. A pearl embellished letter “D” graced the crowning tier and bridal roses and orchids were positioned on cake layer edges and at the base. Guests enjoyed each layer of the cake which included chocolate, lemon and raspberry.
The groom’s cake was a delicious chocolate confection filled with cookies and cream. An edible replica of an Airbus 321 commercial jet sat upon blue buttercream icing with white clouds depicting a plane in flight. The groom’s cake was served by his aunt and godmother, Ms. Rita P. Durio.
To honor deceased grandparents, a special table was set up with photographs of the bride and groom taken with each of their respective grandparent in various stages of their lives.
There was a designated table for children set up with colors and markers. Each was given a personalized wedding day coloring and activity book designed for the bride and groom.
Musical entertainment for the evening was provided by Louisiana Red Band.
As the reception drew to a close, guests gathered outside to participate in a sparkler send-off for the couple. Amid the farewells and well wishes, the couple left for their wedding trip to Pensacola, FL. Upon their return, they will reside in Rayne.
Prior to the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s grandmother, Mrs. Jeanette Simoneaux, on Wednesday, April 30, at Chef Roy’s Frog City Café in Rayne. Guests were treated to a delicious seafood or steak dinner complete with banana split cake for dessert. In keeping with tradition and as a special gift to the bride, family members presented her with gift boxes containing something old, her maternal mother’s rosary; something new, a Pandora bracelet charm (my beautiful bride) from her groom; something borrowed, bride’s mother’s birthstone ring to wear on her wedding day; something blue, a handmade and embroidered in blue hanky from the groom’s mother, and a shiny new 2015 penny from the bride’s dad to wear in her shoe. Each item was accompanied by a loving note. The groom’s parents presented him with a pair of six pence cufflinks to wear on his wedding day.
Mr. Durio is a graduate of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish and Louisiana Tech University where he earned a degree in aviation. He is employed by American Airlines. Mrs. Durio is a graduate of Rayne High School and is employed by Carmichael’s Cashway Pharmacy.
