Shower fêtes bride-elect Rebecca Johnson

Bride-elect Rebecca Ann Johnson of Egan recently enjoyed a miscellaneous bridal shower held in her honor at the Iota home of Kaye Beasley.

Rebecca is the betrothed of Ryan Joseph Latiola of Egan, and the two will be wed on Saturday, May 10.

For the shower, which was held on the afternoon of Sunday, March 23, the Beasley home was decorated in the bride’s chosen color of coral, and the decorations incorporated her soon-to-be last initial, “L.” The front door was hung with a wooden “L” suspended by coral ribbon. A burlap wreath adorned with a coral-colored “L” and chevron ribbon adorned the entryway to the living room.

The various food tables were graced by hydrangeas and candles in Mason jars embellished with burlap ribbon. Pictures of the bride-elect and prospective groom were set on the mantle and gift table for viewing by guests.

The nearly 50 guests in attendance enjoyed a variety of finger foods, including shrimp dip, cheese dip, chicken salad sandwiches and a vegetable tray, along with lemonade and iced tea. Of particular note was a large fruit arrangement that incorporated bright Gerber daisies and was the centerpiece of the dining table.

A traditional shower cake and an assortment of sweets were served for dessert.

For the event, the bride-to-be selected a blush-colored dress with a matching cardigan and completed her ensemble with gold accessories.

The mother of the groom-elect, Darlene Latiola, chose a sleeveless coral-colored dress.

The bride-elect and groom’s mother both wore corsages of coral roses, as did the grandmother of the groom, Lucy LaCasse, who was an honored guest at the event.

In addition to Beasley, the shower was hosted by Jackie Francois, Janice Hebert, Carol Henderson, Carolyn Leger, Paulette Moore, Charlotte Pousson and Joan Zaunbrecher.

Rebecca is the daughter of Belinda and Robert Andrus of Suffolk, Va., and Larry Johnson of Moss Bluff. Her maternal grandparents are Euna Hollier of Mamou and the late Auley Hollier, and her paternal grandparents are Dallas Johnson of Oakdale and the late Mary Alice Johnson.

Ryan is the son of Darlene and Keith Latiola of Iota. He is the grandson of Lucy LaCasse of Iota and the late Henry “Blanc” LaCasse, and the late Ovela and  Anatole “Toy” Latiola.

The couple will exchange vows during a during a 6 p.m. nuptial ceremony officiated by Fr. David Broussard at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota.

Following their wedding, the couple plans to reside in Egan.
