Breaux family reunion held in Rayne

A Breaux family reunion was held Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, at Apollo’s Hall in Rayne for the decendants of the late John “Slick” and Rose Barkley Breaux of Rayne.
Mr. Breaux was retired from Rayne State Bank, and Mrs. Breaux was a homemaker who raised 15 children.
Their children include Dorris Julian (deceased), Marie Pickens, Dora Logan, Lillian Senegal, Margaret Julian, Bonnie Evans, Jerry Breaux and Connie Breaux of Rayne; Michelle George and Myra Breaux of Crowley; Terry Breaux of Lafayette; Gary Breaux of Houston; Mona Bias, Perry Breaux and Nihla Lake of Port Arthur, Texas.
The eldest sibling in attendance was 70-year-old Marie Pickens of Rayne.
The youngest sibling in attendance was 49-year-old Myra Breaux of Crowley.
Reunion committee members were Mona Bias and Lillian Senegal who decorated the hall in a color theme of apple green, white and silver.
Family members and guests enjoyed a traditional gumbo with trimmings, pork roast, rice and gravy, red beans and rice, candied yams, corn, potato salad, and sweets.
Entertainment was provided by a disc jockey for the 101 guests in attendance.
Special guest in attendance for the reunion was Ivory Campbell of Houston.
Guests attended the reunion from Rayne, Crowley, Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, and Houston and Port Arthur, Texas.
