Les Dames begin new program year

The new program year of Les Dames Acadienne began with a business meeting held on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at the Acadia Parish Library in Crowley.
Club President Betty Miller called the meeting to order at 1 p.m., welcomed club members and giving them praise and thanks for outstanding participation and cooperation.
Lois Richard, treasurer, led the opening prayer followed by the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance and the club collect. Richard also gave the treasurer’s report, after which dues and Love Offering monies were collected.
The members then reviewed the club yearbook and discussed the various programming for the coming months. The club trip is planned for April 13, 2017, followed by Fun Day on May 10, 2017.
It was decided that the club will continue to distribute lap blankets to the local nursing homes and collect for the American Heart Association in February 2017 and Miles Perret Cancer Services in March 2017
Earline Spell gave a brief presentation on gardening and suggested some vegetables that can be planted now.
Secret Sister gifts were distributed, followed by Show and Tell.
Edith Dailey was the lucky winner of the door prize, a potted mum. Bonnie Gaspard was also presented with a potted mum for all her years of service to the club.
Dailey gave the blessing after which a delicious luncheon was served by committee members Cynthia Kratzer and Lucille Chisholm.
