Myrtle W. Lyons celebrates 95 years

In celebration of her 95th birthday, Mrs. Myrtle Wingate Lyons was honored on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, during a small gathering at her Mire home.
Surrounded by blooming floral bouquets, Mrs. Lyons was honored by a number of family members and friends who attended the mid-afternoon social and enjoyed cake, coffee and punch.
On Sunday, Oct. 5, family members attended a luncheon on her honor at her home.
The former Myrtle Wingate was born Oct. 2, 1919.
She is the surviving child of Willie and Amadine Perrodin Wingate. Her siblings were Harold Wingate Sr., Rodney Wingate Sr., Willie Wingate, Dorothy LeBlanc and Viola Wingate.
Myrtle married Marvin Lyons (deceased) and they had two daughters, Barbara Breaux of Sulphur and Gadric (Al) Fontenot of Mire.
She is also the grandmother of five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
Myrtle was also honored on Sunday, Oct. 5, during a family luncheon held in her honor at her Mire home.
