New ‘Monday Night at the Movies’ lineup told

The Acadia Parish Library has announced its fall “Monday Night at the Movies” schedule, and it looks like the lineup will offer plenty of drama that will keep viewers on the edges of their seats.
Oct. 19: “A Night to Remember,” 1958, 123 minutes, black and white. An account of the ill-fated maiden voyage of RMS Titanic in 1912. Stars Kenneth More.
Oct. 26: “39 Steps,” 1935, 86 minutes, black and white. A man in London tries to help a counterespionage agent, but when the agent is killed and the man stands accused, he must go on the run to both save himself and also stop a spy ring that is trying to steal top secret information. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Stars Robert Donat.
Nov. 2: “Humoresque,” 1946, 125 minutes, black and white. A classical musician from the slums is sidetracked by his love for a wealthy, neurotic socialite. Stars: Joan Crawford and John Garfield.
Nov. 9: “Country Girl,” 1954, 104 minutes, black and white. A director hires an alcoholic has-been and strikes up a stormy relationship with the actor’s wife, who he believes is the cause of all the man’s problems. Stars: Grace Kelly, Bing Crosby, and William Holden.
Nov. 16: “Three Faces of Eve,” 1957, 91 minutes, black and white. A doctor treats a woman suffering from Multiple Personality Disorder. Stars: Joanne Woodward, Lee J. Cobb and David Wayne.
All movies start at 6 p.m. and are hosted by Dr. C. Richard Bier.
