Rayne High class of 1951 holds annual reunion

A number of classmates of the Rayne High School graduating class of 1951 gathered for their 2014 annual class reunion on Saturday, June 21, at Chef Roy’s Frog City Café.

Classmates attending the 63-year reunion were Thelma Martin, Barbara R. Gossen, Josette P. Delahoussaye, Carolyn R. Tites, Evelyn S. Petitjean, Olita T. Matthews, Joyce B. Arceneaux, Hadson Roy, Mercedes B. Hollier, Roland Molbert, Aubrey Mire, Bety T. Roy, Ralph Stutes, Hilton Quebodeaux, Richard Darce, Verna N. Kennedy and Elwood Trahan.

Reunion committee members were Thelma Martin, Olita Matthews and Ralph Stutes.

Classmates attended the 6 p.m. reunion from Rayne, Branch, Crowley, Scott, Lafayette, Ville Platte, Jennings, Madison, and points of Texas.

Deceased classmates remembered during the reunion were Jessie Mac Cahanin Cormier, Robert Comeaux, Betty Couvillion Deroeloy, Laura Venable Guidry, Colton Arceneaux, Caliste Beard Jr., Edna Mire Estilette, Patsy Faulk Richard, Edward Junot, Mary Jane Laughlin Milton, Herbert Sills Jr., Rodney Myers, Audrey Trahan Richard and Louella Taylor Richard.
