Sonniers celebrate 60th wedding anniversary

Vernice and Velma C. Sonnier of Rayne celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Nov. 6, 2014, during an evening celebration held at Chef Roy’s Frog City Café.
The couple was united in marriage on Nov. 6, 1954, during a wedding ceremony at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne.
Maid of honor was Grace R. Chiasson, escorted by the best man, Raymond Istre. Wedding attendants were Milton Mire, Aurthur Sonnier, Mary M. Sonnier, Evola Mire and Nolton Leger.
Mrs. Sonnier, the former Velma Credeur, is the daughter of the late Adam and Louise M. Credeur.
Mr. Sonnier is the son of the late Eda Owens and Varis Sonnier.
Over 40 family members and guests were served cake and beverages during the 7 p.m. social.
Special guests in attendance were Grace Chiasson, niece; Nolton Leger, friend; Milton Mire and Delores Thibodeaux.
Guests attended the special event from Rayne, Duson, Branch, Scott, Westlake and Port Arthur, Texas.
