Orientation held, Miss Rayne Pageant nears

With orientation completed Monday evening at City Hall, young ladies interested in competing for Miss Rayne of 2014 are urged to register for the annual pageant planned Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Rayne Civic Center.

This year’s theme will be ‘Under the Sea’ as announced by this year’s chairperson, Suzette Leonards, during Monday's first meeting for this year's contestants. The first two entries who were in attendance Monday were Chantel Delco and Caroline Bergeron.

To be eligible to compete for the title of Miss Rayne, you must be (1) 16 years of age and not older than 22 years of age; (2) single and have never been married or had a marriage annulled; (3) must not be pregnant or have never borne a child; (4) must be of good moral character and never been convicted of any felony; (5) must have a Rayne address or telephone number or attend a school servicing the Rayne community.

The competition will consist of the following segments; Interview – (held the afternoon of the competition); Typically there will be a panel of three judges that will visit with each contestant for a period of approximately 5 minutes; Sportswear and Introductions; Choreographed dance number and a maximum 30 second introduction; Evening Gown – on stage competition in an evening gown of choice; On Stage Interview including two lighthearted questions.

The Miss Rayne tentative schedule of events include:

Deadline to Enter – Monday, Aug. 18, by 4 p.m.;

Dance Practice – Wednesday, Aug. 20 and Thursday, Aug. 21, at 6 p.m.;

Dress Rehearsal – Friday, Aug. 22, 6-7:30 p.m.;

Miss Rayne Interviews – Saturday, Aug. 23, at 4 p.m.;
