CHS teacher arrested

A Crowley High School math teacher has been arrested on allegations that she participated in indecent behavior with three juveniles from the school.

Tracy Marie Barras, 34, of the 100 block of Rustic Drive in Duson was arrested Tuesday afternoon without incident at her home by Lafayette Parish deputies, according to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon.

Melancon said investigators with his office were contacted by school board officials on Oct. 10 regarding possible inappropriate behavior between a teacher and several 16-year-old male students.

Following an investigation into the incidents, investigators were able to obtain warrants of arrest for Barras charging  her with three counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile. The three warrants stem from incidents with three different juveniles, according to Melancon.

Barras was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail with bond set at $60,000 by District Judge Kristian Earles.
