Police arrest 2, seek 1 in shootings

Crowley Police, with the assistance of the Jennings Police Department, Welsh Police Department and the district attorney’s offices of Acadia and Jeff Davis have arrested two men and are seeking another man regarding two separate shooting investigations.

“Our investigation into (last) Sunday evening’s shootings has led to the arrest of two men and we are looking for a third man. This investigation has also led to an arrest from the Oct. 12 murder of Taylor Beverly. We also believe that additional cases regarding the rash of recent shootings may be solved with these arrests,” stated Chief KP Gibson.

Beverly was shot on Oct. 12 in the 600 block of West Seventh Street. Crowley Police have identified the person responsible for this crime as D’Avondre Marquest Williams, 18, of Beaufort, South Carolina. D’Avondre has been recently residing in the Welsh area. He has been charged with one count of second-degree murder in this case.

The investigation into last Sunday’s shooting on East 15th Street has led to the arrest of Williams along with Aaronton Williams, 22, of Jennings. Crowley Police are also seeking Damien Deshone Guidry, 34, of Welsh in connection with this shooting incident.

The investigation reveals that D’Avondre Williams and Damien Guidry forcefully entered the residence and shot multiple times at the victims. Aaronton Williams was present and aided the other suspects in committing this act of violence.

D’Avondre Williams was charged, in addition to second-degree murder, with home invasion and two counts of attempted first-degree murder. His bond has been set at $750,000 by Judge Kristian Earles. No bond has been set on the second-degree murder charge at this time.

Aaronton Williams has been charged with principal to home invasion and principal to attempted first-degree murder. His bond has been set at $750,000 by Judge John Trahan.
