Melancon Siblings Gather For Special Birthday Celebration

SPECIAL BIRTHDAY GATHERING OF SIBLINGS - Overton “Teco” Melancon, far left, (91 years on Jan. 14) and Frances Melancon Miguez, far right, (70 years on Jan. 18) were honored during a recently gathering of the nine surviving children of Ovey Melancon and Irma Thibodeaux Melancon, who were killed in the 1957 tornado that struck the Mire community. The Melancon siblings include, from left, Overton “Teco” Melancon, age 91; Emma Melancon Higgonbotham, age 89; Milton “Mitt” Melancon, age 86; Nola Melancon Harmon, age 84; Roy Melancon, age 82; Nora Melancon Miller, age 79; Eva Melancon Duplechain, age 76; Marjorie Melancon Duplechin, age 74; and Frances Melancon Miguez, age 70.
