Information and photo released by the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office.

A Thursday afternoon plane crash is under investigation by the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office and the Federal Aviation Adminstration.
According to Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Maxine Trahan, Sheriff Wayne Melancon's office received a report of a crop duster crash shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday, June 4.
The crash occurred near Louisiana Highway 35, approximately 1/4 mile north of Louisiana Highway 365, near Branch. It is there that deputies located an overturned crop duster in a crawfish field near that location.
Initial investigation results by the deputies show that the crop duster experienced mechanical problems while attempting to take flight.
According to Trahan, the plane landed in a crawfish field about 200 yards from the air strip. She added that the pilot of the plan exited with no injuries.
At about 5 p.m., investigators from the FAA arrived on the scene and a representative from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) was also expected on scene to conduct an investigation.
