Midland High announces 2013 Homecoming Court

Queen to be crowned at Tuesday’s game

Bios for each member provided by Midland High School and the seniors on the homecoming court.

Sixteen seniors reign over Midland High School’s ongoing homecoming “week”.

Activities began Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the school and will conclude the night of Tuesday, Dec. 10, when the Midland Lady Rebels and Rebels will host Centerville for its homecoming game.

There, during halftime of the varsity boys’ game, the court will be presented along with 2013 Basketball Sweetheart Kristy Istre and the 2013 homecoming queen will be crowned. The girls’ basketball game is set for a 6 p.m. tipoff.

Comprising Midland High School’s 2013 Homecoming Court are:

Blaire Simone Champagne: Blaire Champagne, 17, of Lyons Point, is a senior with a 4.0 grade point average. She is the daughter of Audrey and Joseph Primeaux.

She has been honored with the A-average Award for four years and was named the Outstanding Band Member for four years. She made parish honor band four years, being honored as first chair for one year. She has also participated in Literary Rally for three years. While attending Midland High, she has been a member of band for five years, including three years as a member of the flag team, flag team captain for a year and Band Council for one year. She also has been a member of the Beta Club for five years, Student Council for three years and represented Midland at the 2013 Louisiana Girls State. 

After graduation, she plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and major in psychology.

Hannah Marie Chiasson: Hannah Chiasson of Mermentau is the 17-year-old daughter of Mark and Melanie Chiasson. 

The senior currently maintains a 3.7 grade point average. She has been awarded the A-average Award for four consecutive years and the Fine Arts Faculty Award. She has been honored with the Senior Beta Award, Student Council Award and an academic jacket. She was the ninth grade Student Council representative and a member of Student Council, the yearbook staff, Senior Beta, FCCLA, the St. John the Evangelist Church choir and Gifted and Talented. As a member of youth group, she has collected food for those in need and other activities. In FCCLA, she has visited veterans at the veterans home and participated in fundraisers for Student Council. She also is an assistant teacher for St. John the Evangelist CCD. 

After graduation, she hopes to go to the University of Louisiana for music education with a concentration in voice.

Victoria Morgan Craigen: The daughter of Danny Craigen and Amy Richard, Victoria Craigen, 17, of Morse, is a senior holding a 3.5 grade point average.

As a sophomore and junior, she was honored with the Girls Outstanding Track. She received the A-average honor and for three years, the B-average Award. She has also been a double letterman all five years at Midland High. She has been a member of Student Council, 4-H, and, for one year, Junior Beta and FFA as well as a varsity member of the basketball, track and cross country teams. While at Midland, she has participated in food drives and has even run one. She has visited the veterans home and nursing home and has helped with food baskets for needy families as part of a religious function. 

She plans to attend UL Lafayette and major in kinesiology and minor in psychology after graduation.

Callie Elizabeth Duhon: Callie Duhon of Crowley is the 18-year-old daughter of Paul Duhon and Kelli Duhon.

She is a senior at Midland with a 3.2 grade point average. She has been a member of Student Council for three years and has received the Student Council Award as well as the B-average Award. For a religious project, she made food baskets for families. She has volunteered at the veterans home and a the nursing home and has joined Angels for Paws.

She plans to attend the University of Louisiana majoring in kinesiology after graduation.

Patsy Danielle Hartsell: The daughter of James and Pauline Hartsell, Patsy Hartsell of Lafayette is 18 years old.

She is a senior and has a 3.7 grade point average. While at Midland, she has been awarded the A-average Award for two consecutive years and B-average Award for one year. She placed second at District Literary Rally for the subject of FACS (family and consumer science) and placed first at District Literary Rally for food nutrition. She has been a member of Senior Beta and Student Council and the yearbook staff, both for two years.

After graduation, she plans to study physical therapy at the University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa).

Angelle Renee Hebert: Angelle Hebert, 17, of Estherwood is the daughter of Angelique Myers and Doug Hebert.

She is a senior with a 3.9 grade point average. As a student at Midland, she has earned the A-average Award for three years as well as the Student Council Award and Academic Award. She has been a member of Senior Beta, student Council and the yearbook staff as well as a vocalist with Gifted and Talented. She has participated in food and money drives and she plans to go to McNeese and study nursing to hopefully one day finally become an R.N.

Shelby McKenzie Jardell: Shelby Jardell of Crowley, a senior, is 17 years old and the daughter of Leatrice and Robert Jardell.

She has received cheerleading awards, the FFA Award, officer award and horse judging award. She has been a member of FFA, cheerleading and student council and has participated in youth group.

After graduation, she plans to go to LSUE to become an LPN.

Caitlyn Rae LeJeune: The daughter of Johnny and Stacy LeJeune, Caitlyn LeJeune, 17, of Mermentau is a senior maintaining a 4.0 grade point average.

She has received academic awards, Cheerleading All-American, Senior Beta award. For two years, she placed first at District Literary Rally and second place at State Rally for one year. She has received the FFA Officer Award, Cheerleading Co-captain Award for one year and Cheerleading Captain Award for one year. She has been a member of Student Council, cheerleading and Beta. She has also been a class officer for two years and FFA for two years.

She has helped at the veterans home and, after graduation, she plans on going to McNeese, getting a degree in business management and go into real estate.

Kyra Brooke Louvierre: Kyra Louvierre of Morse is the daughter of Dale and Mena Louvierre. She is 18 years old and a senior at Midland, maintaining a 3.9 grade point average.

She was the eighth grade Student of the Year, the A-average Award for five years and the ACT Award. She has been a member of Beta for five years, a class officer and Student Council for four years, FFA and a Student Council officer for two years and publications for one year. She was also a citizen of 2013 Louisiana Girls State. She has participated in food drives and helped with Relay For Life and visited veterans home and nursing home.

After graduation, she plans to attend McNeese State University and receive a bachelor’s degree in radiology and major in sonography.

Madison Brianne Morgan: Madison Morgan of Lyons Point, 17, is the daughter of Dani Trahan and Brennan Morgan.

She has received numerous awards while attending Midland including the Student Council and FFA officer awards, both for two years. She has been a member of the Honor Band for three years, honored for All As and Bs for two years. She is graduating the nurse program and awarded a letter in basketball for one year and in track for two years. And, as a member of the Catholic Church has received the Sacrament of Confirmation. She has been a class officer for two years, Student Council and FFA (and an FFA offficer), both for three years. She has been a member of band for four years – the color guard and honor band, both for three years. She has been participating in the nursing program as well. She has help feed the homeless, volunteered at a soup kitchen. She gives clothes to church and participates in 5K races for Susan G. Komen, which supports breast cancer patients.

After graduation, she plans to attend either the University of Louisiana or LSU and graduate with a degree in drug therapy (psychology).

Taylor Jasmine Perossier: The daughter of Terry and Bryan Perossier, Taylor Perossier of Mermentau is 19 years old and maintains a 3.1 grade point average as a senior at Midland. 

She has been a member of band for five years and has been honored as Outstanding Band Member.

She plans to attend LSUE to become a radiology technician after graduation.

Kyland L’Shai Poullard: Kyland Poullard, 17, of Mermentau Cove is the daughter of Kayla Poullard and Serial Rigmaiden. She is a senior and has a 3.85 grade point average.

She has been a member of the parish honor band for seven years, dating back to elementary school and was awarded Outstanding Band Student as a junior. She was a citizen of the 2013 Louisiana Girls State and was a LOSFA Trailblazer in 2013. She received the A-average Award for four years and Literary Rally Award for three years. She has been a Beta Club member for five years, cheerleader for four years and Student Council for three years. She has also been a member of band for five years where she served as a rifle for three years, rifle captain for two years, a member of Band Council for one year and drum major for one year. She is a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Crowley and used to volunteer at Rayne Guest Home.

After graduation, she plans to attend Northwestern State University to major in biology and becoming a physician assistant.

Ajia Terrell Premo: Ajia Premo of Estherwood is the 17-year-old daughter of Tony Barker and Crystal Premo. The Midland High senior maintains a 3.5 grade point average.

She has received the B-average Certificate since eighth grade, the Perfect Attendance Certificate and an FFA Award for All As. She has been a member of 4-H, FFA, Student Council and FCCLA.

After graduation, she plans on going to college to fulfill her dream of becoming a mechanical engineer.

Roxy Renee Richard: Roxy Richard, 18, of Morse is the daughter of Danielle and the late Harold Richard. She is a senior and maintains a 4.0 grade point average.

She has received a Woodman of the World Award, the A-average Award for five years, a Literary Rally Award for one year and athletic awards for four years. She has been a member of the Beta Club for five years, Student Council for one year, Student Council officer for three years, publications for one year, class officer for four years and Chess Club for one year. She also was a citizen at Louisiana Girls State. She has participated in food drives and the FoodNet food drive and visitied veterans home and nursing home.

After graduation, she plans to attend McNeese State University to major in animal science and then further her studies at LSU to become a veternarian.

Rebecca Lynn Roy: The 17-year-old daughter of Rhoda and Roderick Roy, Rebecca Roy of Crowley is a senior and maintains a 3.8 grade point average.

She has received academic awards, the All-American Award, the Senior Beta Award and A-average Award for four consecutive years. She has been a member of Student Council for five years, including holding the office of secretary this year, FCCLA and a cheerleader, both for four years, a class officer, vice president of her senior class, and a member of Junior and Senior Beta. She has participated in religious projects, collected food for the needy and attended the VA.

She plan to attend LSU and major in dentistry after graduation.

• Katelyn Lea Woods: The daughter of John and Lisa Woods, Katelyn Woods, 18, of Morse. She is a senior at Midland and maintains a 4.0 grade point average.

She has received academic awards, has been honored as an All-Academic athlete in basketball, track and cross country, received the American Legion Award, the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists Award of Excellence and the Literary Rally Award – placing second in civics and physical science. She was named a member of the District 7-B second team in 2013 and was a member of the 2012 Cross Country District Championship Team. She was also selected as Valentine Sweetheart. She has been a member of the Lady Rebel basketball team for five years, being named captain for three years; the track team for five years and cross country team for two years. She has been a member of Senior Beta, serving as vice president her junior year; Student Council, serving as vice president her senior year; a class officer her eighth grade and freshman years and a member of FFA, where she served as historian her sophomore year. She has participated in youth group, volunteered at veterans home, collected food for the needy and also participated in religious projects.

After graduating, she plans to attend McNeese State University to earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing in order to become an R.N.
