Twelve ladies have been chosen as Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish’s 2015 Homecoming Court. Court members include, clockwise from left, Chaz Gibson, Bethany Leonards, Mima Doucet, Madison Thibodeaux, Caroline Gielen, Sarah Leonards, Julia Schmid, Olivia Barbin, Emily Lucas, Hunter LeBlanc, Grace Hensgens and Tabitha Leonards. ND names 12 to homecoming court

Notre Dame High School is pleased to announce the members of the 2015 Homecoming Court.
These 12 young ladies were selected by the senior class. The Homecoming Queen will be crowned on Friday, Sept. 25, at half time when Notre Dame High School takes on Opelousas Catholic at Gardiner Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Many events are associated with the game. The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, when the annual Homecoming Parade rolls north on Parkerson Avenue from the Crowley Court Circle. The parade turns right onto Northern Avenue, right on Eastern Avenue and ends at the Notre Dame campus, where a pep rally will be held.
Immediately following the pep rally, the Notre Dame High School Gumbo Cookoff will be held on the track surrounding the practice field. Team entry forms are available by calling the Notre Dame Development Office at 783-7143 (there is no entry fee for teams). Individual tickets are $5 and are available at Notre Dame High School. All funds raised will benefit the Notre Dame Teacher Benefit Fund.
All Notre Dame, St. Joseph High School, St. Michael High School and St. Francis High School Alumni are invited to celebrate Mass with the students and faculty on Sept. 25 at noon in the A.B. Doré Memorial Gym. Alumni and friends are also invited to join the school at 2 p.m. for ND’s annual Homecoming Pep Rally in the gym.
The week’s festivities will conclude with the football game on Friday evening. Prior to the game, a reception will be held beginning at 6:15 p.m. at Gardiner Memorial Stadium honoring the Notre Dame High School Classes of 1976, 1986, 1996 and 2006, as well as the 1956 and 1966 classes of St. Joseph High School, St. Michael High School and St. Francis High School.
The 2015 Notre Dame Homecoming Court will be introduced and Homecoming Queen crowned at half time.
Members of the court are:
• Olivia Louise Barbin, daughter of Jim and Colene Barbin of Crowley.
An active member of Notre Dame’s Student Council for four years, she was freshmen class representative, sophomore class parliamentarian, junior class treasurer and is currently senior class president. Barbin has been a member of the Notre Dame varsity tennis and volleyball teams for three years. She is a two-year member of the Speech & Drama Club, played basketball and was in pep squad one year. She was voted class favorite her freshman year.
Barbin has served as class officer her freshmen, sophomore and junior years as president, secretary and treasurer and also attended LASC. She is currently the Pioneer mascot for the varsity cheerleading squad.
Barbin plans to attend Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and major in elementary education.
Her hobbies include traveling, hanging out with friends and family, watching Netflix, baking and shopping.
• Marina Brynn “Mima” Doucet, daughter of Chad and Janell Doucet of Duson.
Doucet has been a member of the Lady Pio softball team for four years. She has been a member of Speech & Drama, the Beta Club for two years and has also participated in Campus Ministry for two years, serving as treasurer this year.
Doucet currently serves as senior class treasurer and is a Student Council representative.
She plans to attend Centenary College and pursue a degree in pre-medicine and play softball.
In her spare time, she enjoys playing softball, hanging out with friends, cooking and learning new dance moves.
• Chazmin Elise “Chaz” Gibson, daughter of Netra Broussard and Chad Gibson of Crowley.
An involved member of the NDHS Student Body, Gibson has been a member of Student Council for four years, serving as secretary her junior and senior year. She has represented Notre Dame for three years at LASC and one year at Girls State.
She has been a football and baseball trainer for four years. She is a two year member of Campus Ministry and three year member of Speech & Drama serving on the costume committee.
Gibson also serves the student body as Eucharistic Minister at school Liturgy. She has been a member of the yearbook staff for one year, attended Notre Dame’s mission trip to Dominican Republic and also attended the LSU training camp one year.
Gibson plans to attend LSU then transfer to Our Lady of the Lake majoring in nursing with the ultimate goal of becoming a neonatal nurse. Her hobbies include hanging out with friends, baking, reading and cooking.
• Caroline Theresa Gielen, daughter of Bryant and Elizabeth Gielen of Crowley.
Caroline has been a varsity cheerleader for three years and is currently co-captain. She has served on Student Council for two years, was freshmen class treasurer, sophomore class vice president and was also junior class president.
Gielen has been a member of the yearbook staff for two years, Speech & Drama one year and was in pep squad her freshmen year.
She plans to attend LSU, majoring in graphic design.
In her spare time, Gielen enjoys cheering at football games, hanging out with friends and family, babysitting and traveling.
• Grace Marie Hensgens, daughter of Denny and Amanda Hensgens of Crowley.
She is a four-year member of the Speech & Drama Club and two year member of Campus Ministry. Hensgens served on Student Council one year and attended LASC and is also senior class representative.
She served on the Yearbook Committee and is a baseball trainer. She also participated in pep squad her freshmen year.
Hensgens plans to attend LSU and study to become a radiologist specializing in ultrasound.
Her hobbies include baking, shopping, spending time with friends and family, traveling and reading.
• Hunter Paige LeBlanc, daughter of Garret and Michele LeBlanc of Crowley.
LeBlanc is a four-year member of both the Notre Dame varsity volleyball team and basketball team. She is currently the Beta Club president and has been a member for three years. She also served the Beta Club as secretary her junior year.
LeBlanc has participated in Campus Ministry three years, Speech & Drama two years and ran track for Notre Dame for one year. LeBlanc also serves the student body as Eucharistic Minister at school Liturgy.
Upon graduation, she plans to attend either McNeese or UL-Lafayette to pursue a career in dietetics and personal training.
Her hobbies include playing volleyball and basketball, spending time with friends and family and babysitting nephews and nieces.
• Bethany Josina Leonards, daughter of Todd and Priscilla Leonards of Roberts Cove.
Bethany Leonards has been an active member of Student Council for four years and currently serves as parliamentarian and senior class representative. In addition, she has been a football trainer for four years, a member of Speech & Drama for four years playing key roles in Snow White, Charlotte’s Web and the role of “Anne” in Anne Frank and is also in the Talented Arts Program.
She is a three year member of the Beta Club and is also a Eucharistic Minister at school liturgies.
After graduation, she plans to attend college in an undergraduate and graduate program for art and art therapy.
In her spare time, Bethany Leonards enjoys reading, painting, drawing, acting and getting together with family and friends.
• Sarah Catherine Leonards, daughter of Bryan and Charlotte Leonards of Crowley.
Sarah Leonards has been a varsity cheerleader for three years and currently serves as captain. She has been an active member of the ND student body serving her freshmen class as secretary, sophomore class president, junior class vice president and is currently senior class vice president.
She has also served as Student Council representative three years. She is a three year member of Campus Ministry and Beta and two year member of Speech & Drama as well as yearbook staff and was in pep squad her freshmen year.
Sarah Leonards plans to attend LSU in the fall majoring in biology.
She enjoys cheering at football games, hanging out with friends and family, shopping and traveling.
• Tabitha Josepha Leonards, daughter of Todd and Priscilla Leonards of Roberts Cove.
She is a four year member of the Beta Club and has been the sound board manager for the Drama Club for four years. Tabitha Leonards is a two year member of Campus Ministry. In addition, she is a 4-H State Board member, Louisiana representative and National 4-H Conference delegate.
She was in pep squad her freshmen year, varsity cheerleader one year and has been a soccer trainer for two years.
Tabitha Leonards plans to study international development and sustainability in an undergraduate and graduate program.
Her hobbies include assisting with 4-H camps and activities, reading and networking with family and friends.
• Emily Christina Lucas, daughter of Rodney and Keri Lucas of Crowley.
She is a four-year member of the ND varsity golf team and currently holds the Division II team state championship. In 2015, Lucas was named Acadiana Player of the Year and holds three All-State titles.
She is a four year member of Campus Ministry and currently serves as vice president. She has also been an active member of the Beta Club and Speech & Drama Club for four years. Lucas has been a volleyball manager for three years and on the yearbook staff her junior year.
Lucas plans to attend McNeese State University and major in radiology with a specialization in cardiovascular ultrasound.
Her hobbies include playing golf, painting, spending time with friends and family, reading and traveling.
• Julia Rose Schmid, daughter of Kurt and Jeanne Schmid of Crowley.
Schmid is an active member of Student Council, having served as freshmen class vice-president, sophomore class treasurer and junior class secretary. She has been a varsity cheerleader for three years and was in pep squad her freshmen year.
Schmid has been on the Notre Dame tennis team for four years and was a part of the 2013 state championship team. She is a four year member of the Speech & Drama Club, three year member of the Beta Club and played volleyball and ran track for one year. She is currently editor of the yearbook which she has been in for two years.
She participated in the school’s mission trip to the Dominican Republic and the pro-life march in Washington, D.C. Schmid also serves the student body as Eucharistic minister at school Liturgy.
Schmid plans to attend McNeese State University to study nursing.
She enjoys babysitting, riding bikes, eating sno-cones and spending time with family and friends.
• Madison Claire Thibodeaux, daughter of Chris and Staci Thibodeaux of Jennings.
She is a three-year member of the varsity cheerleading squad, has been on the Notre Dame tennis team for two years and played basketball and volleyball one year and was also in pep squad her freshman year. Madison has been in the Beta Club for one year and Campus Ministry for two years.
Thibodeaux attended the school’s mission trip twice donating her time in Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic and also attended the pro-life march in Washington, D.C.
She plans to attend LSU and ultimately plans to go to veterinarian school.
Her hobbies include riding horses, spending time with family and friends and traveling.
