New building drawing rave reviews

Operations are underway at the tall, bright yellow building on North Parkerson Avenue that has been drawing the eyes of Crowley residents for the past several months. 

After 15 months in their temporary location in the Grand Row Shopping Center, Burger Zone owner Sheryl Bartlett is happy to finally be back at their old address at 1426 N. Parkerson Ave. 

And the address is the only thing old about Burger Zone these days. 

Burger Zone proudly opened the new restaurant on Wednesday, June 25. Bartlett, who owns Burger Zone with her husband James, seems downright exhuberant. 

“This is so much nicer,” she said. “We have so much more room to work and for storage. I love it.” 

Just a look around the restaurant is enough to see what Bartlett is so excited about. The beautifully designed dining area now seats 64 people, up from “35 or 40 — tops” at their prior location. The kitchen area seems as though it has nearly doubled in size and workers can move around freely “without bumping into each other.”

Like Bartlett, longtime Burger Zone employees Sharon Francis (15 years) and Celeste Richard (12 years) are thrilled. 

“It’s really been nice moving in here,” smiled Francis. “We have so much more room and that other building (temporary location) was so hot.” 

Richard simply stated what nearly every person The Post-Signal spoke with repeated. 

“I just love it.”

“Of course, we are still getting used to where everything is, but things are beginning to flow smoothly,” said Bartlett. 

According to Bartlett, since the new location opened its doors, business has “been non-stop.” 

“We haven’t slowed down a bit since last Wednesday,” she said. “All of our customers have been waiting to see this ... I am so thankful.”

Likewise, the customers are returning the compliments. 

“The owners are such great people and are super excited about their new location,” said Crowley fireman Chad Monceaux. “They deserve the success.”

While the nostalgic feel of the original location may be missed by some longtime Crowley residents, it’s likely that the bright yellow building sitting next door to Crowley Flower Shop may become a local landmark for years to come.
