New Miss Rayne will be selected at Sunday pageant

Eight young ladies will compete for the title of Miss Rayne 2016 this weekend on Saturday, Sun. Sept. 25, at 4 p.m. at the Rayne Civic Center.
Contestants for the ‘Around The World’ themed Miss Rayne Competition will include Blair Bergeron, Catherine Castille, Meka Cormier, La’Shonda Delco, Corinne Doucet, Brooklynn Mire, Breanna Rice and Haylee Young.
Blair Bergeron is the 17-year-old daughter of Eddie and Sarah Bergeron and a freshman at The University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She will be sponsored by her parents for the pageant.
Catherine Castille is the 18-year-old daughter of Kendall and Annette Castille and a freshman at LSU-Eunice. She will be sponsored by the Rayne Lions Club for the pageant.
Meka Cormier is the 17-year-old daughter of JoAnn Cormier and a junior at Rayne High School. She will be sponsored by Vincent Enterprizes and Shake Back ENT for the pageant.
La’Shonda Delco is the 18-year-old daughter of Chanda Delco and the late Cheveland Hollier Sr. She is a LSU-Eunice student and will be sponsored by her mother for the pageant.
Corinne Doucet is the 17-year-old daughter of Patrick and Desireé Doucet and a senior at Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish. For the pageant, she will be sponsored by her parents.
Brooklynn Mire is the 17-year-old daughter of Jackie and Becky Prejean, and Jody and Nancy Mire. She is a senior at Rayne HIgh School and will be sponsored by her parents for the pageant.
Breanna Rice is the 17-year-old daughter of Emily Haure and Laura Pardee, and is a junior at Rayne High School. For the pageant, she will be sponsored by Cajun Fitness of Rayne.
Haylee Young is the 17-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Young and is a student at SLCC-Crowley. She will be sponsored by the Ebonites Civic and Social Club for the pageant.
The new Miss Rayne will be crowned by the outgoing honoree, Victoria Richard, who has completed a most involved reign as she represented the City of Rayne during local and area events.
Due to the recent wide-spread flooding, the 2016 Miss Rayne Pageant was originally scheduled for Aug. 13, but was re-scheduled this weekend.
Advance tickets already purchased will be honored at the door. Tickets are also available for purchase at Rayne City Hall for $5 advance or $8 at the door the evening of the pageant.
