Gardening seminar set on Feb. 20
The city of Rayne, the Rayne Garden Club and LSU AgCenter will host a free seminar on gardening at 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, in the Mural Room.
AgCenter Extension Agent, Jeremy Hebert, will provide basic, as well as intermediate tools, which are necessary for a productive warm season vegetable harvest and a plentiful fall/winter harvest of citrus. The seminar will help decide now what to plant and what varieties to plant this spring, go over insect and disease management in vegetables, show how to increase production of a garden, as well as other best management practices for spring vegetable garden and citrus trees.
Best management practices of native shade trees will also be discussed. Planting techniques, proper pruning, fertilization schedules, soil management, as well as other important elements will be discussed to ensure shade trees are being properly cared for.
