Rayne to be featured in British travelogue

Plans are in place to feature the Frog Capital of the World as one of three Louisiana communities on a United Kingdom television travelogue series, Tracks Across America, starring Billy Connolly a Scottish comedian, musician, presenter and actor.
In advance of filming in Rayne on Sept. 21, the series’ producer Michelle Crowther and director Mike Reilly traveled from San Antonio, Texas to meet with city officials and Frog Festival queens Monday evening, July 27, in City Hall.
Billy Connolly’s Tracks Across America is a major three part television series for ITV in the UK as he journeys across the four corners of the US by train.
According to publicity for the British travelogue, Connolly will start and finish in New York and travel America’s backyard, striving to “meet a truly remarkable cast of people who capture the irresistible spirit of America.”
In addition to featuring Rayne, the show on Louisiana will feature a community near New Orleans and Lawtell.
According to information supplied by producer Michelle Crowther, “Billy is beloved by his audiences. Just a few months ago Billy won a Royal Television Award for Best Presenter and his alast American travelogue Billy Connolly’s: Route 66 was the highest rating factual documentary series that year.”(You can get a feel for the series, from this short clip here: https://www.youtube.com/atch?v=GOfJGqhe8).
The three Louisiana segments will be filmed during September with the goal of filming in Rayne on Sept. 21.
According to the producer Crowther, “We would love for Billy to meet some festival queens, see the frog murals and sculptures, where the frogs are harvested and any other great suggestions of people or local characters.”
