Sheriff, Postal Service foil drug mail delivery

The Acadia Parish Narcotics Task Force recently assisted the United States Postal Service with the delivery of a package containing narcotics which was being sent through the United States mail services.
After receiving a call from the Postal Inspector, deputies with the Acadia Parish Narcotics Task Force, including the APSO K-9 deputy and K-9, inspected the package which was being sent to an address on Elizabeth Street in Rayne.
The package was inspected by the K-9, who gave an alert as to the presence of narcotics.
Once the proper procedures were in place, the package was delivered to its intended address. At that time, deputies confirmed that the package contained two pounds of extremely high grade marijuana, which has an estimated street value of $21,000. Deputies with the Acadia Parish Narcotics Task Force took into custody Derrick Domingue, age 28, and Jacob Domingue, age 20, both of Rayne.
The suspects were booked into the Acadia Parish Jail and have been charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute. Bond for each of the suspects was set at $40,000.
Sheriff Wayne Melancon thanked the United States Postal Service for its cooperation with these arrests and commended his deputies for their efforts with this case.
