USDA Awards LSU’s Louisiana Business and Technology Center
BATON ROUGE – The United States Department of Agriculture presented a $145,000 check to the LSU Louisiana Business & Technology Center for its Mobile Classroom program on Oct. 28. Clyde Holloway, USDA state director, presented the check to LBTC under USDA’s Rural Development Grant Award.
The LBTC Mobile Classroom, the face of LBTC’s Driving Louisiana's Economy initiative, is a retrofitted semi-trailer designed to host seminars and workshops for small business owners. This self-contained unit has state-of-the-art audio/visual capabilities, including a large plasma screen monitor and broadband wireless Internet connectivity. The Mobile Classroom can seat more than two dozen people for classes.
The Louisiana Business & Technology Center, an integral part of LSU’s E. J. Ourso College of Business’ Stephenson Entrepreneurship Institute, endeavors to enhance economic development in Louisiana through the support of existing small businesses and the development of new businesses. Established in 1988, the LBTC’s highly successful business incubator program has been honored as the National Business Incubator Association’s Incubator of the Year.
