Joycie Mier

CROWLEY – A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Joycie Love Mier, 73, who died June 28, 2009 at Southwest Medical Center in Lafayette.

Fr. Gary Schexnayder will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to the time of service. A rosary will be led by Sister Justina Baker at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley. She will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Mausoleum.

Joycie was born in Branch to the late Viola Melancon Mier and Ed Mier. She was employed at J.C. Wilfert, Co. and Wilco Jewelers until her retirement. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to all. Joycie was never a stranger to anyone and was always around for her family. She lived a beautiful life, was loved by many, and will be sadly missed.

Leaving behind to always cherish her memories is her beloved son, Kenny Labbie and his wife Patty of Crowley; her grandchildren, Tracie Labbie and her companion Brian Leger of Estherwood, Meghan Rozas and her husband Chuck of Cecilia, and Courtney Bush and her husband Michael of Duson; her great-grandchildren, Kennan and Kaitlyn Comeaux, and Maci, Morgan, and Alex Rozas; two sisters, Brunette Kokenge of St. Martinville and Shirley Dorr of Crowley; two brothers, Terry Mier and his wife Millie of Crowley, and Charles Mier of Estherwood; her godchildren, Allison Petry, Jared Abshire, Erika Menard, Jeff Talley, and Benton Perrodin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Beatrice Talley and her great-nephew Donald Ray “Trey” Petry, III.

The pallbearers bringing her to her final resting place will be Jared Abshire, Jeff Talley, Mike Talley, Jason Kokenge, Roy Talley, and Bobby Melancon.

Honorary pallbearer will be Kennan Comeaux.

For the Mass, Lynda Faye Boudreaux will present a eulogy. The readers will be Colleen Woolard and Tami Ebarb. The music selection will be Eagle Wings, Old Rugged Cross, How Great Thou Art, and Amazing Grace led by Joe Hornsby.

The family would like to thank Dr. Karrie Kilgore and Dr. Corwin Thomas for the service provided to Joycie at the time of her illness and the staff at Southwest Medical ICU ward.
