Granger, Doucet united in holy matrimony
Gabrille Rae Granger of Monroe became the bride of Lorne Charles Doucet of Iota during a 7 p.m. nuptial mass held on Friday, June 6, 2008 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Father Gary Schexnayder and Reverend Howard McCann officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Darrel and Mariette Granger of Iota. She is the granddaughter of the late Jules and Susie Menou of Iota and the late Vernice and Sadie Granger of Basile.
Gabrielle is a 2004 graduate of Iota High School. She is a 2006 graduate of the Louisiana State University at Eunice where she received an associate degree in science. She is currently a second year student of the School of Pharmacy at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
The groom is the son of Leonard and Rebecca Doucet of Iota. He is the grandson of Jeanette Fabacher and the late F.N. Fabacher of Iota and the late Hopson and Mavis Doucet of Evangeline.
Lorne is a 2003 graduate of Iota High School and is currently employed with Doucet Sheet Metal.
Escorted by her father, the bride looked exquisite in a strapless gown of ivory satin, featuring a modified sweetheart neckline. Metallic embroidery in a scroll pattern, enhanced with Swarovski crystals, rhinestones, bugle beads and sequins decorated the fitted bodice. A thin border of beaded embroidery gave detail to the neckline and dropped waist. Multiple inverted pleats at the back and side gave fullness to the a-line shirt which cascaded into a chapel length train. To complete her ensemble, the bride wore a ivory veil of imported illusion, sprinkled with rhinestones and trimmed with a soutache edge. She carried a hand tied bouquet of fresh, stemmed flowers of cream Vendella and pink tipped Rosini roses. Accenting her bouquet was pink and white alstroemeria and seeded eucalyptus, completed with a bow of ivory illusion.
In keeping with tradition the bride wore an 1890 sixpence as something old, her dress was as something new, her necklace as something borrowed and a blue garter as something blue.
Adrienne Granger, sister of the bride; was chosen as the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Chantina Foreman, sister of the groom; Meagan Leckelt, niece of the bride; Kourtney Andrepont, Brittany Landry and Christina Johnson, all friends of the bride. Bridal attendants were beautifully attired in floor length evening gowns of nectar pink stretch charmeuse, featuring an empire waist with a v-neck and straps crossing the back. They carried a fresh hand tied bouquet of cream Vendella roses accented with pink tipped roses, sprays of seeded eucalyptus and alstroemeria. A bow of pink and gold iridescent illusion completed the posy.
Lance Doucet, brother of the groom; stood as the best man. Groomsmen were Shane Anderpont and Cody Fontenot, friends of the groom; Garrett Anderpont, Daimon Anderpont and Brennan Boone, all cousins of the groom.
Serving as ushers were Brady Gattte and Ryan Latiola, both friends of the groom.
Kinsley Foreman and Alexis Doucet, nieces of the groom served as the flower girls and Keegan Foreman, nephew of the groom; served as the ring bearer.
On her daughter’s special day, the mother of the bride looked ravishing in a cream three-piece Dupioni silk suit complimented with a floor length a-line skirt. She was presented with a shoulder corsage of miniature porcelana roses with green accents.
The mother of the groom was stunning in a floor length, Shantung silk, a-line dress adorned with a gold metallic bodice and satin accents. A rhinestone broach completed her attire. She was presented with a wrist corsage of miniature porcelana roses with green accents.
Musical selections were provided by Jase Fogleman vocalists and Judy LeJeune, organist.
Scripture readings were given by Monica Veronie and Kelsi Andrepont.
Offertory gifts were given by Michealene Miers, Corra Miers and Michael Miers.
The bride’s cake was a three-tiered confection overlaid with ivory tinted fondant. Each tier was encircled with fondant ribbons. Topping the cake was fresh roses, alstroemeria and miniature pink fillers and seeded eucalyptus. Her cake was served by her godmother, Michaelene Miers.
The groom’s cake featured a exact replica of his Honda four-wheeler. His cake was served by his godmother, Pam Andrepont.
Following the wedding ceremony a candlelit reception was held at Pointe Aux Loupe Ballroom in Iota.
The ballroom was decorated with candles, fresh flower arrangements which were used as table toppers and greenery.
The couple will reside in Monroe after returning from a wedding trip to the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee.
A rehearsal dinner was held on June 4 at 5:30 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Foret in Iota. The dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents.
