Lawrence “Nome” Trahan Sr.
LYONS POINT - A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Lawrence “Nome” Trahan Sr., 82, of Vermilion Parish will be celebrated on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lyons Point. Father Clint Trahan will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in Abshire Cemetery in Kaplan.
Visitation began Monday, Aug. 26, from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. in Duhon Funeral Home in Crowley, with a rosary being recited at 6 p.m. Visitation continues on Tuesday from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
Mr. Trahan passed away on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at 12:50 p.m. in his residence.
A native and lifelong resident of rural Vermilion Parish, Mr. Trahan was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He was retired from Koch Oil Company where he worked as a truck driver. Mr. Trahan was also a disk jockey for KAJN several years ago. He was a drummer, playing in Cajun French bands such as Will Marceaux and the Louisiana Stars, and in the Lawrence Walker Band.
Mr. Trahan enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and fishing, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Marie Fabre Trahan of Vermilion Parish; daughters, Connie Marie Moore and husband Terry of Lake Arthur, Bonnie Miller and husband Alan of Crowley, and Jackie Richard and husband Scott of LeLeux; sons, Russell Trahan of Crowley, Larry Trahan Jr. and wife Joann of Estherwood, Dickie Ray Trahan of Vermilion Parish, Mac Trahan of Vermilion Parish, and Chad Trahan and wife Amy of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Trahan is preceded in death by his parents, Cladies and Eletia Richard Trahan; son, Terry Trahan; brother, Wilfred Trahan; and grandchildren, Brady Richard and Sonni Nicole Trahan.
Serving as pallbearers are Lucas Trahan, Jeremy Richard, Chris Trahan, Ryan Miller, Jory Trahan, Kentry Trahan, Waylon Roy, and Aaron Moore.
