Melancon is 'Jackpot' winning jockey

Trainer Tom Amoss and veteran jockey Gerard Melancon (Rayne native) teamed up for four wins Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at Delta Downs punctuated by “Rise Up” capturing the $1,000,000 Delta Downs Jackpot for 2-year-olds.
The team dominated a six-length victory over Casiguapo, adding 10 points on the road to the 2014 Kentucky Derby standings.
Melancon and “RiseUp” qualified for the race by taking top honors at the Jean Lafitte Stakes in October.
